  1. Hi, Here are the symptoms: 1. Motor will not idle when turned over, can keep motor running by depressing accelerator. 2. TRAC Light always lit, CEL always lit 3. No error codes stored, have reset ECU several times. Again CEL always lit. 4. Can get car to run but VERY slow acceleration. Have replaced Air Flow Meter 2000 miles ago due to a mechanic saying he got error 31, car ran fine for about 500 miles then began same symptoms. Do faulty throttle control valves and sensors give fault codes? or would a MAF sensor throw a code? Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer, will report back with results.
  2. It does sound like unplugging the neg. battery cable and leaving overnight may be a good starting point as it will reset your ECU and hopefully clear the error code... Checked all related fuses?
  3. Hello All, I own a 94 LS400 that has had a recent problem. The car has 235K miles and ran fine until just recently. Replaced the oil and 800 miles later began to notice intermittent loss of power. Almost felt like loss of fuel for a moment. Began steep climb and problem came back with a vengeance. Car lost almost all power....would not restart....mechanic claims he got error code 31 and so I replaced the Air Flow Meter....500 miles later it began to happen again. Car will not idle without depressing gas pedal continously and dies/stalls out when you let off. Check engine light is lit. Trac light is lit. Tried to jumper Te1 and E1 for a diagnostic but the CEL just stays on and does not blink at all. Is that normal or indicative of perhaps a faulty ECU? Reset ECU by disconnecting neg. cable for over 10 seconds, same fault. In closing, the car sounds really rough when I do have it running.... How do you know when your ECU is faulty? Does the CEL always being lit while jumpered mean the ECU has crapped out? I have spark and am checking to make sure I got fuel right now.... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  4. #1 clue...at max cooling or max heating ALL sensor signals are ignored and the pertinent servomotors are driven BLINDLY into the appropriate position. SO. You have a input signal sensor (not likely to be a servomotor positional feedback sensor since it lags but "follows" the temperature setpoint) somewhere that is intermittent. I would check/replace the cabin temperature sensor first. It's behind "window" in the dash panel just above the drivers right knee. Ok I will give it a shot and thanks so much for the valuable insight!
  5. Hello All, I own a 1994 Lexus LS 400 that has begun to make a constant "clicking" whenever the AC is turned on. The only way to make this sound stop is to increase the temperature and eventually it stops as I reach the max on the temp setting. I'm wondering if perhaps it is the vent down inside that switches from cool to heat. I know some change (canadian no doubt :) ) has slipped off down the center console, under the ashtray receptacle and am suspecting it's now obstructing something....I dont' know...just guessing. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? How do I go about diagnosing short of tearing apart the dashboard, and if I have to tear it open, how hard is it to get it back together? I really need to fix this as winter and summer are both unbearable without a functioning system. Thanks in advance for any insight or advice you may have!
