  1. I had this problem for about a year and a half. Has I drove I would notice that I had a rear light failure warning indicator. This is item number 12 on page xii of the pictorial index in my owner's manual or the little yellow indicator at the bottom of my instrument cluster display far right. Has time went on it happened more often. The indicator would come on and I would look for a rear light to be out but found nothing. Finally, every time I used my SUV the light was on. I began to believe I had a bad sensor until one day I noticed that when I first started the vehicle the light was out. The minute I put my foot on the brake to place the machine in drive the light came on. I went back and looked at my rear lights again and noticed that the center top brake light was out. You must have someone to step on the brake wile you look to see this or use the reflection in a large store glass window. When I finally prided off the inside upper hatch trim to gain access the the lamp assembly I found that the light was burnt out. Not only that but the bulb was loose in it's socket. If you held the socket so the bulb was facing down it would fall out. I took a small screwdriver and pried the two ends of the contact points closer together so the bulb would fit snugly. I put it all back together and its been working like it should. Does everyone understand that the bulb being lose acted like it was burnt out but I only got the error when I stepped on the brake. So sometimes I would get the failure but most of the time I wouldn't. It wasn't until the bulb burnt out that I could tell what was happening. Vic :D
  2. Where is the air conditioning low pressure recharge port on a 02 RX300?
  3. I have had a 1999 ES300 for two and a half years. It is a wonderful car. Now, here is my little problem: The front passenger door lock switch button cap-cover. It popped off and its retainer portion is broken. It is only a molded plastic rocker switch cover. It has little ears or lips or something at its ends that allows it to snap in and seat down onto the switch assembly. The item should only cost a few dollars if you could by it. The real problem is you can only buy the switch assembly from the dealer for 87 big ones. Does anyone know how I could get just the cap cover?
  4. If I were moving to Vermont I would be using 5W30. You may not need snow tires at all if you are using all weather radials. I would move up and see what the locals have on their cars in the winter. If you live in an area where the roads or streets are kept clear you may be okay with what you have. I wouldn't spend any money before I investigate. Good lock on your new adventure. :D
  5. I had to put a front plate on my rx300 2001 also. I got a Toyota mount on Ebay for $25 that said it would install on my rx300 and used two white plastic wall anchors I got at my local hardware store. The anchor face is about the size of a dime and the tail end will fould into the drilled hole. I drilled out two holes in the front bumper lined up with the Toyota mount just large enough for the anchors to be snuged in. I carfully pushed and or taped the anchors into the bumper untill they were almost flush. Be carful not to pop your air bag. Then I used two large, round or pam head, chromed sheet medal scrows to draw the lincense plate and Toyota mount into the bumper. I also put a plastic plat cover over mine which I got from JC Whitney and it came with the screws I needed. It looks like it came with the vehicle.

  7. Did you have the remove the steering wheel? How long did it take to do the refinishing work? What was the total time you were without your car?
  8. How do I replace a steering wheel on a 1999 Lexus ES300? Can I get written instructions? Do I need special tools? If I am unable to do this myself who should I see for this service and what should it cost? Thank you
