Hi,
I have a 1994 Lexus GS 300.It has about 188,000 miles on it. I have two questions.
1) I had a look at the engine coolant reservoir and I could see that the coolant is almost at the low line. I read through the forums, and I could see that there is a red coolant recommended by Toyota. I am not sure if I have a green one or red right now. Besides that the maintenance manual specifies that the car needs an ethylene glycol based coolant. I was in a store today, they had all kinds of cooants there. Most of them contains ethlyene-glycol in the "contains' list in fine print. Is there a specific brand I have to use?
And then, can I add the coolant, to what is already in there or do I have to drain it first (I have no idea how to do that).
2) My car does not have any problems so far. But I have no idea what kind of regular services I have to do for the car at this point (I just brought the car 4 months ago, its my first car).
Do I have to do the maintenance if needed at a Lexus dealer necessarily?
Thanks guys.
