  1. the camera just wasnt positioned correctly...good that the dealer fixed it for you

I took it to the dealership and they changed out the camera. still the same. still has the same dark corners in the upper left and right side. i dont know if its something wrong with the camera or if its catching the edge of the car. anyone have suggestions?

Sounds like it's seeing the edges of the boot lid. Sit in the car and get someone to put their hand/finger in these areas to see if you can pinpoint it. There may be nothing wrong with the camera, but at least this way you'll know.

  2. However, it's still unacceptable because it could lead into some damage; furthermore, other cheap cars have simmilar mechanism yet don't make such clicks so why an expensive care would have it? So, it's a design flaw.

I think it's unlikely to cause damage, as this is what it's designed to do. Regarding the noise, as has been mentioned re rattles etc, it may be that because the car is far quieter whilst driving, all these little sounds become more obvious. So maybe it's no louder than on cheaper cars, just more noticeable due to less road noise intrusion.

Does anyone else have their partner tell them to to use their turn indicators, as they are very quiet and she doesn't her it?

  3. Man im not sure if i am explaining it to you right, since my friend has the 335 with the sports package... What he told me is that it has something to do with the muffler, and how a valve was closed at idle and at low rpms by unplugging the valve [something like that] it is always open therefore creates more noise...

I had a Subaru Liberty (Legacy) twin turbo that had an automatic muffler flap that kept some back pressure at low RPM but opened for full breathing when pushed to the second turbo. This was supposed to help reduce the power dip that occured between the change to the second larger turbo at higher revs. I haven't heard what BMW have done with their 335

  4. It's not quite as "sticky" as the original pads, but I always considered the original pads to be a tad bit too much (it was hard to stop smoothly). The new pads are perfect behaving, IMHO. From what I've read here, and on other boards, everyone that has had the replacement has been pleased.

That's exactly what I'm looking for

I'll be off to the dealers soon

  5. No - it applies to 250s as well. Got mine done - very happy with lots of less dust, and still very good braking power.

Is the braking as good as with the original pads?

I'm also getting sick of the amount of dust, I have asked the dealer and he says they don't know of different pads for this problem, and suggested if there were, they wouldn't be as good.

As I'm in Aus I may need to bring the TSB from Lexus US to their attention and see what they can find out for me. :pirate:

  6. My understanding is that the materials and tolerances used in todays modern engine manufacture mean that the process of running a car in is virtually unnecessary. The other version I have heard is that engines actually run in better if run at very high revs, with load, for an initial period. I know my father was advised to this when the engine on his cessna plane was rebuilt, and is apparently done with race engines. Only problem with passenger cars is it's very hard to drive out of a dealer and leave it at WOT for the first ten minutes.

  7. It's my understanding that in some countries there is some wiring behind that plate.

Has anyone pulled the plate out for a look?

I think my dealer made a comment about it not being able to be included with the moonroof. So, I assume, the lower spec 250 without moonroof should have the sunglass holder. Is that right?

  8. If it's for your wife, get Matador Red/Cashmere!! That's what I'm going to get!! It's HOT!!! :)

We don't get the option of red in Aus :cries:

I would like to see a red one in the flesh as I enjoyed the red car I used to own. Looked cleaner for longer too.

  9. Hi Folks:

New here and considering buying an IS250, 2008 model in Charlotte NC.

Anything that I should be aware of?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO Black outside, Black inside, Tint the windows, Looks awesome.

Bugger to keep clean, but very satisfying when it is.

    Auto, lovely.

Turn the music up, open the 'moonroof' and enjoy the ride.

  10. I was just wondering if anyone can give me recommendations for ceramic brake pads... price/brand/website? I'm going with the ceramics for reduced dust and performance.

Do you mean you want reduced dust, and reduced performance? :whistles:

My understanding is that ceramic pads are to be used with ceramic discs and are not appropriate with standard discs. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

  11. If the car downshifts, then you haven't selected the proper gear in the first place. If you're shifting for performance, then you should have already downshifted.

    Correct

If it's changing down then your not being serious enough and may as well leave it in auto, otherwise keep the revs up so your always in the power zone, same as you would with a spirited drive in a standard manual. :whistles:

  12. Must be another Euro thing. I just tried it and it resumes beeping.

SO many small differences in the specs...why?? We don't have autolock in the UK, although most people here would like to have it. Dealers say it's not an option/programmable. Same deal with the folding mirrors, the UK model has them but the US one does not, although at least there's a partial explanation on that one, as in the drivers door panel is a different part number anyway due to being right hand drive. Presumably the UK and Australian spec is same or very similar to the Japanese spec, and they saved a few cents with the LH drive spec. Would be interesting to know if the European L.H drive model is more similar to the US spec.

My Australian delivered IS250 has the folding mirrors, but don't know about auto lock, I haven't seen it written anywhere. Also we don't get the 350 :censored: , but will be getting the IS-F next year.....apparently.
