  1. I am seriously considering buying the IS350 over its competitors, but I have read that the headroom is a little tight for some people. I'm 6'3". Just wanna know, would I be comfortable in this car? Because I like everything else about it. Or is there anyone on here who's around my height whose not bothered by the headroom? Thanks

Depends on your driving style. I'm 6' and have no problems and sit fairly upright.

Best idea would be to take an IS for a test drive and make sure you can get comfortable for a long drive.

  2. I dunno but do you have to unlock the car first?

Normally i press the unlock button twice to unlock all the doors then hold the unlock button for as long as it takes for the windows + sunroof to open where i want it.

I remember reading something about some countries not getting this feature?

Or maybe it was not being able to hold the lock button to get them to close back up.

I just press the unlock button once and hold it down. Works for me

  3. The US model has a plastic divider "shelf" that runs across the width of the car below the upper grill. It extends from the front almost back to the radiator. Does the AU model have that?

No. It has a plastic moulding that runs from the bottom of the bottom grill back under the engine. The air comes in the bottom and can then run up over the the whole radiator. there is a small 'shelf' but not restrictive as far as I can see. Hard to tell with all the plastic wrapping.

  4. Cannot seem to find this answer in the auto manual- does anyone know if there is a "night mode" for the navigation system (either manual or automatic) in regards to reducing the overall brightness of the screen? In my previous car (an Audi), the screen would 'flip' automatically to a dark background when it was dark enough for my lights to turn on...Thanks....

Yep. You just have the dash lights on max. Turn it something less, you should feel a click as it turns indicating it has changed modes.

  5. I love my sideview mirrors. They are very large, and I can see almost everything in them. However, they've been fogging up lately. I don't have the package that would warm up the mirrors to stop this from happening (I don't even know if that's avail, but I assume it is), so how do I stop this from happening? Is there something I can put on them? Rain-X?

Of course you do--it's a std feature. It's on the same button as the rear window defogger.

Or the rainX makes sure they don't fog up to start with.

    But the switch is easier.

  6. Who know's, they'll probably think up an excuse.

Agreed that the brakes are pretty grabby but i've found that they've smoothed out a bit after about 10-11,000km's.

Does either of your front seats squeak?

The drivers seat in our IS squeaks when going round corners and is most annoying.

Their excuse is that not enough people have complained so far :chairshot:

I've only 5000km on it so far, so will wait and see how they go.

My seats don't squeak, nor anything else for that matter.

  7. Hmm, good news that i'm not alone!

Keep me/us informed, 5 weeks seems quite a while you may need to chase them up.

Got a reply today, after a gentle reminder.

They said that as brake dust is not a major owner concern at this stage they won't trial the different pads in Australia. Problem is I initially went in because they were grabby, and mentioned the excessive dust. So I reminded them of the brakes and not just the dust.

    Now waiting on another reply.

  8. Now this seems to be the fix however i read in one of the sulfur odour TSIB's that it states some information on Californian fuel however i'm from Australia, Sydney and wonder if these TSIB's still apply (i'm only interested in the seat squeak, the sulfur odour was just an example of the use of "California" - Seemed quite specific to it's location).

    Camski

    Camski

I'm trying the same thing for the excessive brake dust TSIB in Adelaide. They say they know nothing of it and will get back to me. That was about 5 weeks ago

we'll just have to keep at them :chairshot:

  9. Hello all,

I want to tint my windows metallic white to match my starfire pearl ride; I just want to make sure the antennas in our cars are no longer located in the rear window, (the manual says nothing on the subject). The sharkfin antenna is now the official antenna wether the car has satellite or not? Please educate me and thank you all in advance for your inpute.

I put full metallic tint around my IS and have had no problems with radio pickup, AM or FM. I was initially concerned but it has had no noticable effect. Mine is a standard black/grey tint.

  10. I slapped a cold air intake on my 350, and wow what a difference. the thing is a beast. monster grumble from under the hood under full acceleration and a nice note with just a tap of the gas. i can now hit 60mph before i need to shift to third using the paddles. got mine off of ebay and installed in like 15 min. going to get a tanabe exhaust soon and really listen to it howl.

Surely you could hit 60 mph before shifting to third with the original intake.

The intake doesn't change the gearing, it will just get there a bit quicker if it can allow the engine to breath more easily.

  11. I have an IS-350. I recently got a new cell phone, Motorola RAZR V3. I cannot get it to Auto Connect to the IS-350 bluetooth. AFter the initial registration it never asks for the password again but I must manually connect each time. I know it is not the phone as it works fine with other Bluetoot devices.

    Any ideas?

I would suggest it is the phone, but is a setting that needs to be made to allow the IS-350 to connect automatically.

My Nokia has a setting that asks if I would allow the device to autoconnect.

Otherwise go through the cars onscreen phone settings as it can be set for multiple phones but will only accept 1 as the default to connect to automatically. This may need to be changed if you've had another phone connected.
