  1. I recently had to remove all four locking lug nuts from my RX300. The key for the lug nuts had become unusable. My question is this...I want to replace all four with a standard lug nut, but Lexus wants almost 20 dollars a lug nut, but I was told that due to the nature of the lug nuts on this vehicle having a washer attached to the nut, I would be unable to use a standard lug nut set for 15 bucks for four? Does any one have any suggestions? Could I use a standard lug and put a washer on it? I know that the standard lugs are tappered on the end that fits into the hole. Any help would be appreciated...thanks...
  2. Thanks for the help. I may take you up on the offer for the bulb. I am trying to find out the type of bulb that is required to fix it. I live in Ontario, Canada and here we have day time running lights on during the day. My RX runs with the daytime running lights on during the day and on my dash there was a small almost half illuminated light to the middle right of my instrument cluster. The light would come on during the day while my daytime running lights were on and shut off automatically when my headlights came on at night. The light would come on to indicate that my daytime running lights were on just like the green headlight indicater comes on at night. I am not talking about the high beam light at all or the drive light or the headlight indicater. I am talking about the daytime running ligth indicater. The highbeam indicator is a seperate light all together and works fine. My headlight indicator works fine. I am fairly sure that if some one could tell me what type of light bulb is used for the headlight indicator that the daytime running light indicator would be the same or the same as that. Any more help would be appreicated...thanks again...
  3. I have a 2002 RX 300 and I just noticed that the blue light on my dash cluster (top right) that indicates that my daytime running lights are on, is no longer working. It appears the bulb is burned out. The daytime running lights still operate normally. Does anyone know what type of bulb that is? I have replaced the bulb in my dash cluster for the driving light, is this a similar bulb? Any information you could provide would be appreciated...thanks...
  4. I have a 2002 RX300. Would it be possible to replace the current standard rear wiper arm and blade with the straight design that is on the 330? Thanks...
  5. Be careful with the kind of shield that drills into the underside of the hood. My wifes Mazda MPV had that style and it came with two rubber feet that were supposed to keep the plastic from rubbing on the hood. Well the rubber did rub the hood and over time rubbed the finish off and the paint. As long as all the space between the hood and the sheild is ok...you should be fine, but be careful. I once had an accord with shield and when the vehicle was parked the space between the shield and the hood was fine, but when the car was driven the force from the wind would force it into the hood and it wore the finish off my hood in two places. Like I said, I have had no problems with the Weathertech. Good luck...
  6. Where did you get your fluid extractor? Thanks...
  7. I installed a weathertech on my 2002. It does install with double back tape and I too had concerns. I did a bit of research before buying and it appears that the double sided tape does not harm the vehicle. The tape used is the same tape that auto manufacturers use to stick emblems and other things to the finish of most vehicles. The weathertech installed in 2 minutes and I have had it on my car for around 6 months and it hasn't moved, cracked or faded in any way and I live in Toronto and we have had some cold temperatures for a change this winter. The sheild has held up very well.
  8. Hi...I have read the several threads on replacing the "D" bulb in the RX300 and people mention that you need to unscrew the two top screw in the console with small philips screw driver...that part I understand, but what are you using to pry out the two pieces of dash that need to come out in order to finish the operation? I have looked at using a flat head, but it looks to me like I would damage my dash in the process. Does any one have any ideas? I am talking about the right side piece of trim around the key lock and the trim around the mirror and seat memory switches. Is there a special tool that is required to do this? Any help or advice would be appreciated...thanks...
  9. Thanks for the info. I will take a look at the reservoir and see for myself. Is the rack hard to get to? I would assume that you have to get under the car to remove the hoses? 240K is unbelievable...at what point did you change your timing belt?
  10. Hi...I have an 02 RX300 with 97500 miles on it. Almost all miles are highway. I have been taking it to Toyota for service. Last time I was there, they indicated that my power steering fluid looked a little dirty or discolored and recommended a flush and fill. They want 100 dollars to change it. Is it normal to have to flush the power steering fluid and change it? How hard is it to do this yourself? I have checked through the forum and found no mention or instructions for performing this. Any information people could provide would be appreciated...thanks....
