  1. Not really what I'm looking for - there is nothing there about replacing the inner tie rod sockets. Screw it , I just ordered the tool for it off Ebay - about $65. I 'll probably need it again soon or later anyway. I did use those tutorials to do my upper control arm bushings though. Very helpful! Installed the Daizens along with the sway bar bushings. What a nice improvement! One problem I ran into though was the new sleeves for the upper bushings did not fit the bolts . I had to bore them out, Gonna have to talk to them about that. I also drilled and tapped the control arms and sway bar mounts for grease zerks because sooner or later polyurethane bushings will start to squeak. Thanks for the reply though!
  2. Hi: Can anybody tell me if you need a special wrench or adapter to replace the inner tie rod ends? It seems to vary among different car types - some can be done with regular wrenches, but others require something special. Any other precautions when removing the old one? Thanks!
  3. The generic hose is fine. I just rebuilt my pump too and the replacement hose was less than $4. You just gotta start removing stuff till you can get at it -mainly its the air filter assy. and mass airflow meter with hose. Cut the old hose off and reuse the heat shield.
  4. You guys may be right , but I can't believe the car could run that cool even with the t-stat stuck wide open. If I ever get around to changing it I'll post the results. By the way I just did the power steering pump rebuild using the info here on the site and it went great! Its been leaking for years and the car was really a mess underneath but its done now and good to go. never did kill the alternator so I guess I just got lucky. Thanks!
  5. Hi: I have a 90 model LS 400 with appx 215k on it. Over the last year or so the temp gage has slowly appeared to show the car running cooler and cooler. Now, after about 10 min. the gage will move from rest to just barely above the first hash mark, and stay there - no matter how hot outside, AC or not etc. Thinking the temp sender was bad, I just changed it and it had no effect whatsoever. While changing it I tested the gage by grounding the wire and the gage immediately pegs to the high side - which would seem to indicate the gage is working properly. The car runs fine otherwise, but I really don't like the idea of driving around not knowing true eng. temp. It can't possibly be running that cool. Anybody have any ideas?
  6. That's the one for the ECM - I need the one for the temp gage. But I found it! Believe it or not I found a guy at Autozone who actually knew something about cars and he was able to use their componet locator. Its actually right next to the other one but has only a 1 wire connector. Thanks for the help though! By the way is that whole manual available on this site? or for sale somewhere?
  7. Hi: I have a 90 model LS 400 and the engine temp guage has slowly gotten to the point where it now barely moves up off the bottom no matter how hot it is. Can anybody tell me where the temp sensor is located? I tried using search but haven't had much luck. Thanks!
