  1. I appreciate the help guys. That is all I wanted to know about the isc valve. This was a big help. I did buy another maf meter. but i`m also thinking it may be bad to.
  2. new plugs, wires, caps, rotors coils, cats, everything to make it run. just wish someone could tell me purpose of the isc valve.
  3. please Help What is the purpose of isc valve on front of the intake. does it only function when the car is idleing. if it doesn`t close when rpms go up would it affect the performance of the car. I`ve done every thing humanly possible to make the car go. use to rev up to 2500 and go back down. now it won`t even rev up to 1200 rpms and then dies. any suggestions please. thanks BDJH
  4. what exactly is the function of idle speed control valve. is it`s only purpose to keep the car idleing at 600 to 800 rpm. could it cause a car not to be able to accelerate at all.
  5. there two hoses that run from the intake manifold to the power steering pump. Where those connect is valve. cannot remember the name at this time. that valve leaks fluid into the two hoses which is sucked up into the intake and burns upon start up as white smoke. it is a toyota part which you can buy at a toyota dealer cheaper than a lexus dealer.
  6. hello people 92 ls400 is giving codes 24 and 31 with no check engine light on when vehicle is running. put another mass air flow meter on and same codes come up. this is where my situation with the car is at. don`t understand what is happening. could a bad isc valve be causing these codes to come up. it idles fine but reving not above 800 rpms and push accelarter further it dies. cannot clear the codes with even removing the efi fuse. could a short in wiring of afm connector cause this affect. maybe a wire broke(kinked) inside casing. please somebody help me if you can. i`m starting to hate my car. Just went outside put efi fuse back in after 30 minutes and didn`t even start the car just checked for codes got 24 and 31 again. Big thanks bdjh
  7. Reading through the attached procedures it states that the system will switch to "fail safe" parameters if these faults are detected, so actually it should still run, albeit poorly. Might pay to clear the fault codes by pulling the EFI fuse for more than 10 seconds, cranking again and seeing if you get the same codes. If thats the case then you can check the circuits using the following procedures; Definitely check the security of the connector. Don't know how good you are with a voltmeter, depending on the cost of the air flow meter it might be easier to swap it for a new one?? Good luck. Actually I do know how to check with a voltmeter. I knew about the fail safe overide. but in this case it didn`t do it. I`m going to remov e the fuse try again and check all areas to see what is going on. I really do appreciate you responding on the matter and also I have that same info for the codes. once again thanks bdjh
  8. hey leadfoot i appreciate the response. the reason the question was posed that way is because. new:plugs wires, caps, rotors, convertors, o2 sensors. car has 126,000 miles 1992 ls400. was starting fine a week ago and idleing great but would bog down at 1500 to 2000 rpms and then die. now it started once ran about five seconds like crap and died. during that five seconds code 24 and 31 came up. bdjh
  9. I have a simple question. is it possible that a car won`t start because of a bad mass air flow meter. thanks bdjh
  10. please help I have a ls400 92. the car idles fine. when i rev up the engine it will go up to 2000 to 2500 rpm`s. then bogg down and sometimes will die out. if i let off the gas it will resume normal idle. no codes. tried to make one come up but no success. it sounds like an old car with a carb. when the carb would bogg down. the cats are only one year old. they are made by catco. i heard they are cheap ,very cheap cats. no glowing. also pressure coming out of exhaust weak. what would be the symptons of a bad air flow meter. thanks bdjh
  11. If I have read the post correctly he allready replaced the cats........ Why don'f folks read the complet post???? Sorry I have no thoughts on what to check. ?The red cats tell me there is unburned gas or oil getting into them, but I have no idea of why? It was a thought i had same problem with 92 ls400. Don`t know if this your problem but mine was a bad ignition coil. just one. you have two one on each bank. my cats would glow red real bad. no power could not go over 25 mph.

  13. Thanks for the advice. But there one thing i failed to mention is that my cats are less than a year old. however i will recheck them you never know. Thanks bdjh
