  1. Jeeze, you're right this is from a long time ago. While I'm at it though. Today was nearly the end of my car and almost my life! Green light, i begin to drive through intersection. I had to come to a screechign halt. Some idiot went flying through the red light doing 50/60 MPH. It was probably about an Inch between the front of my car and him. Had I turned right like i usually do, I would have been Tboned and DEAD. If i had notived him even a milisecond later, my car would have been history.
  2. Just pull the rubber tube off the other end (there's a little spring clamp you might have to squeeze open with pliers). Take it to an auto parts store & buy a new piece with the same I.D. - it's only about 6 inches long. You might also make sure you have the right PCV valve, it should be the same size as the old one. Connect your new hose (use the old clamp), plug the other end into your new PCV and you're good to go. BTW, I always get a Toyota OEM PCV for my Lexus (a few more dollars but WAY better quality) and a new grommet. Put in the new PCV, grommet and vacuum hose all at the same time and then you can forget it for a few years, until it's time for a change again. Lots of mysterious symptoms can be cured or avoided just by changing these 3 simple parts. tck... How much does the PCV valve, grommet, and vacume hose usually run ya? And do you have a place you usually go for it? Its about time I do a tune up and I like to tackle any improvement idea I can come across. Thanks
  3. How about I've been 5 times and onle in the car for 1 of them!! 1st time. My brother scraped me down the side of my car backing out of the driveway. ($350) :chairshot: 2nd time My car was INSIDE THE OIL DOCTOR getting its oil changed when they hit my rear bumper with another car. ($600) Not to mention that they didn't inform me! they walked out and said green lexus? I said yep! (thinking it was done) and he said to me "only a few scratches" UHH EXcuse me? I didnt come here for scratches. On top of that, the employee didn't have the common sense to realize that there was no way in hell I'd be paying for that oil change. He started to ring me up... YA RIGHT. 3rd Time. I was run off the road. Some @$$hole didnt know how to check his blind spot and cut into my lane. I should have just let him hit me. Instead I avoided it, blew both my right side tires (which were new) and damaged my rim. He kept on driving of course. ($13) Townfair tire road hazard coverage. 4th time. Parked in front of my girlfriends house. Neighbor backed into rear passangerside door. ($500) 5th time. I let my girlfriend take my car and someone at my old school scraped the rear bumper on the corner. No note, no nothing. Now the rear bumper is chipping, the door looks like $#!+ (and there is overspray), and I've got that nice mark on my bumper. From now on I'm paying the extra for a real good body guy. I dont baby my car to have other peoples mistakes take a toll on how it looks.
  4. Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. Thanks to everyone to participating and posting. Its real helpful. Ive got a 97 Es300 with 187K on it. Ive had it since 163k. I havent had to replace mch besides pads, oil, and and intermediate pipe for my exhaust since I've got it. Not too bad in my opinion since I paid $4200. Soon I will be putting in some iridium plugs, changing the fuel filter, and PCV valve. I want to make sure all maintenece is caught up on. 1.) I've got noise in my front suspension. All the bushings are worn. Nothing mechanically wrong but the sounds drive me crazy. I was wondering what a good and affordable alternative would be for struts and springs. I put 17" IS300 rims on it ($300). It looks great except for the fact that tthe front looks just a little too high. I was looking to drop it maybe an inch or an inch and a half. The vogtland sport suspension set up seems alright. It provides 1.6 in drop in the front and they are roughly $600 for both struts and springs. Does anybody have experience with them? Are they good? Are they too low? 2.) I was also looking to upgrade my brakes since my rotors are warped. I cannot find a single big brake kit! What I had hoped for was to find a posting where somebody found alternative calipers or brakets to use. I got the idea from A4 enthusiasts who use audi TT brake brackets with A8 brakes. I have foudn nothing. Any ideas? 3.) Lastly, Considerign my mileage do you think it would be stupid to have my tranny fluid flushed completly? I have flushed it once, but only a basic flush where it drained the fluid in the pan and changed the filter. The fluid is dirty, I just dont want to blow any seals. THanks everyone!
