I am noticing that the option packages for the RX400H described on Edmunds, KBB and
NADA are different than those shown on the
Lexus website itself. Anyone know why the
discrepancy?
I'm going to place a special order on an 08
RX400H this week for which I will probably have to wait 4-6 months for delivery.
I am going to trade in an 04 4-Runner which should fetch about 19.5K as of today. The problem is by the time the new car comes in the 08 4-Runners will arrive and my vehicle will then be worth around 17.5K. I wonder if there is a way I could turn the Toyota into the Lexus dealer now and make a deal on a
loaner or something. Any ideas out there?
Bob Bass- I was told by one dealer in my area
(Tampa) that the 08 would not be in until November or December and they were not
accepting orders special or otherwise at this time. Today I spoke with a competing dealer
and they said the hybrid would arrive in August and they were taking orders. They told me because they are an "Lexus Elite" dealer they got first divs on cars. If you have an elite dealer in your area you might want to check them out. By the way I am using the AAA car buying service which assures me no
more than 5% over invoice and KBB value on
my trade in.
resale ...at least for the NAV
if you don't need a back seat, why do you want an RX? There are many other hybrid options. Just wondering.
I need a back seat, but when we take a long
trip my wife and I will be the only ones in the
vehicle. No kids in the back to entertain. Besides I also have a portable DVD. Regarding resale I don't care about that because I trade as soon as the factory warranty runs out anyway.
As far as I know any changes for 08 will be
limited because the 09 will intro a new generation, but from what I hear the hybrids
will only be available in the 7 seat configuration. To answer your question about "ramblinman" I am a big Hank Williams, Sr. fan. He recorded a song by that
name under the pseudonym Luke the Drifter.
I am going to special order the 08 RX 400H
as soon as the factory is accepting such orders. My dealership tells me I will have to special order because all the vehicles come in
with the Nav system and DVD. I don't need either because I have my own portable Garmins GPS and noone ever sits in my back seat. Are there any reasons I should accept the NAV and DVD if I don't want them?
I have decided to buy the 08 when available. My nearest dealer is an hour away. When I mentioned this to him he said for routine oil changes I could have that done anyplace. Also, he said for any servicing or repairs that required an overnight stay he would drive out to my house with a loaner, pick up my car and then reverse the procedure. I am wondering if any routine servicing under the terms of the warranty require more than a few hours? Also, if anyone lives in the Tampa Bay area I'd like to ask you a few questions about the 2 dealers.
I was planning to buy a 2008 RX 400H when they supposedly hit the showroom around November. However, I just read an article on Edmunds Insight saying that the completely
redesigned 2009 models will be on the market Spring 2008. Why would I buy a new 2008 to see it supplanted by a newer 2009 model in
4-5 months?
Well see that's why I'm asking. I wasn't too sure if the older 4th gen 4Runners have XREAS on all SE models.
Anyways, comparing the ride of a 4Runner w/o XREAS, I'd say it's about, or very close to the ride of the GX. ;)
Sounds like I may as well save $$$ and get a new 4_Runner if the rides are similar.
A 2004 Sport Edition 4WD, V8 with 22,000 miles.
Driven by a little old man (me!).
The ride, is there a difference in the ride? I find
the 4-Runner a bit tiresome to drive on long
trips.
I've been driving new 4 Runners for the past 6
years and want to trade for an 08 GX470 in the
Fall. Exactly what will I be getting for
$15,000-$20,000 more?
