  1. I recently changed both low beam bulbs on my 98 es300 but the dash indicator light (shows that a bulb is out) is still on. I've checked all front lights and all are operational, including low and high beams How do I reset to get the dash headlight indicator turned off? Thanks again for any help... Regards, CP
  2. I think I have the orginal battery in my 98 es300 and I'm due to replace it (I've read the other posts on this and they were quite informative...Thanks!). When they replace the battery, will I have to have the am/fm/cassette reprogrammed to operate again? If so, any suggestions for how to get the code? (I bought it CPO...but I'm sure the dealer will charge for a lookup on a computer. If i have to pay, I'll pay, but would like to explore other options...) Thanks much for any help... CP
  3. Thanks alot for your input Pioneersuby...was hoping you'd reply. Are dealers the only place where i can get a new one, or are there other sources you can recommend? CP
  4. I bought the 98 es with am/fm cassette and am looking to put in a CD changer. Besides going to the dealer and giving them my firstborn, are there other options in getting and installing a changer? Will aftermarket brands work just as well? Or am I better off biting the bullet with the dealer...any help will be appresciated. Regards Coolptnr
  5. Would be interested in recommendations from anyone who has used Lexus Dealers for service in the central New Jersey area...are there any who you'd recommend that give good service? Any place to avoid?
  6. Thanks much...now that I'm back, I'll give this a shot and see how this goes.
  7. Would be interested in evaluative info on Lexus dealers in NJ. Some time in the past, I remember reading info like that here, but I can't find the forum where that info is located. Is that info still available? Where would I find it?
  8. I have a passenger side headlight bulb on the 98 that has gone out. Tried to get the headlight bulb out to change it but was unsuccessful...looks like only a 2 pronged plug comes out, but when I reach back in for the bulb, it doesn't budge...seems like something is holding it back. Tried to give it a tug or 2 but nothing happening. What gives? Am I missing something? The thought of going to the dealer to have him charge me upwards of $100.00 or more to change a bulb doesn't sit well with me so any help would be appreciated... Thanks much!! CP
  9. Thanks Steviej...they mentioned what you brought up when I went to the dealer. Wish it were that... They said it was bad cam seals...they're leaking onto the power steering pump. I'm not sure what it means, but they said they would have to disassemble something to determine the cause(not sure what it was). Can you offer any insights? They did say that the job was under the warranty...so I won't have to pay anything. Thanks again CP
  10. Recently had an oil change done, and after the oil change noticed drops of oil in the driveway, about a tablespoon in amount. Some background: After I purchased the 98 ES 300 from the dealer(4 months ago), I took it to a diagnostic shop who found some oil on the pan gasket. When I took it back to the dealer, they said it was as a result of certifying the vehicle...most likely during the oil change, they spilled some oil and didn't wipe it up. They said to bring it back if I see oil. I'm taking the car back to the dealer in a couple of days. Are these 2 events unrelated? What could the problem be? Bad oil change? Other problem? The car is Certified...so its still within warranty. Any advice would be appreciated...thanks!! CP
  11. SW03es, you mention that you don't have to take it to a lexus dealer. You mean i can get regular maintenance done outside(assuming they are competent, reputable, etc). If I decided to go that route for selected maintenance items, how could I do that without voiding the terms of my warranty?
  12. SW03ES, bbsal, Thanks for the info. I am about 60 miles from the place I purchased it from...and I pass another lexus dealer on the way. I'm due for the free oil change soon so I'll see if its worth the trip(I'm in Princeton, the dealer is in pennsylvania). From what I gather, there are places where the nearest Lexus dealer is even further than that.
  13. Greetings all...I'm new to this site and from what I've seen its great. Anyone here from Central NJ know of Lexus or Toyota dealerships that they've used and are generally happy with. O I have a 98 ES 300, beige, in need of its first service with the dealer. Bought it at 49K, has 52K on it now. Has "Lexus of waranties-36 months/100K" and a free oil change at the first 3k miles. Thanks for any help you can provide...
