  1. That's amazing JC! Glad to hear you're ok and that your damage was minimal. We have deer here in Florida, but I have never seen one on the road. I lived in Albany, NY for a summer and I would always see deer crossing the Thruway or running along side it. Occassionally I'd see them dead on the side of the road

  2. Does anyone have any experience with a lockout on a 2004 LS430?

One of my kids locked my only key in the trunk. The car was also locked at the time. A locksmith came out and got the car door open, but set the alarm off in the process. This appeared to disable the trunk switch so that it would not operate the trunk solenoid. He then drilled out the valet trunk lock under the dash which made no sense to me because it was already in the unlocked position. We also attempted to access the trunk through the access port in the back seat, but too many suitcases are blocking access to the inside trunk lever and the key.

    1. Is it true that the alarm system locks out the trunk solenoid from operating once it is set off? If true, is there any way to reset it other then taking it to the Lexus dealer? (I have already tried removing the battery cable)

    2. Was drilling out the lock under the dash a possibility to open the trunk, or was this locksmith simply not experienced?

    3. Was there any way to open the door or the trunk without setting off the alarm, like operating the trunk lever from outside before the door was opened?

Thanks so much for any guidance -- it has been a drama-filled afternoon getting my kids to summer camp with all there stuff still locked in my car.

    Mark

This is how i got my trunk open. Disconnect battery and left it unhooked for a few hours. I then connected it back and it activated the trunk release switch. In your case being the lock was drilled it may not release the trunk as a safety feature. Also you can call the lexus dealer and have them make you a new key.

P.S. I would have beat my child's a$$ for all this trouble.

LOL, you don't beat a kid's !Removed! for accidentally locking keys in a car! How many brilliant, accomplished adults has this happened to?

  3. Good thinking jc, but unless it's not working, she should have heard the reminder if it was left open.

I think that Lexus did away with the warning chime for the sunroof left open, in the '93 LS, so the LS in question wouldn't have that feature.

  4. Hey Blake,

According to KBB LS in excellent condition asking price could be $10,115. If I were you, I'd do the usual and have it checked out by a mechanic, find out what service history the car has, make sure the timing belt/water pump replacement has been done. You can even take the VIN to Lexus and they will print out all that has been done to the car at a Lexus dealership. Back to price, that is the starting price for a car that is mechanically and cosmetically flawless. So take in to account whatever findings your mechanic comes up with and what ever things you come up with. Even at the $7995, I'm sure there is wiggle room. Good luck, and let us know what takes place.

  5. If your wife likes puzzle solving types of games, Super Mario Galaxy is kinda fun, and it's rated G so you don't have to worry about it corrupting the kids lol. The Mario Kart game looks like a lot of fun, although I haven't played that one yet. I've played all the previous iterations of Mario Kart and they were always entertaining, particularly if you had company.

  6. Hey Hotrod, welcome to the LOC! How old is your battery? Are the connections/terminals clean and tight? When your battery starts to go or if the connections are loose, it can cause a bunch of strange things to happen.

Ya, I thought of that too. The battery is a Diehard Gold and it is less than two years old. It's still under warranty so I'm going to get it replaced tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had those symptoms. I guess not judging by the views vs replys. Thanks for your input.
