Is It Worth It To Get Extended Warranty?
charlieGS350 replied to ahcalc's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I always buy EW for my new car. With labor cost these days, especially Lexus, it's worth it. I bought my EW for my 07GS350 AWD for $1850 from Lexus to cover 7 yrs/100000 miles Platinum level, no deductible. -
07Gs350 Rear End One Side Sagged
charlieGS350 replied to charlieGS350's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
This is a common problem with the Lexus GX470, my old GX used to sag on one side by about 1/2". Some owners complains about 1 side sagging as much 2 inches. The sag does varies from time to time, its almost like it depends on how the suspension settles after you go for a drive. Of course you need to make sure you are on level ground when making the measurement. I guess after reading this, less than one inch sagging is normal. http://www.aa1car.com/library/ride2h.htm -
07Gs350 Rear End One Side Sagged

Dealership says it's normal. Suspension is tight. No leak. What a disappointment for a $50K car. -
07Gs350 Rear End One Side Sagged

I stand corrected. You're right. It's 1.5 cm or almost 3/4 inch. I can stand 10 feet from the rear and see the rear end tilted on one side. My in-law has an 2002 ES300 and the rear end levels on both side. If it's 0.5 cm, I can say it's negligible. But it's 1.5 cm, I don't think so. -
07Gs350 Rear End One Side Sagged
charlieGS350 replied to charlieGS350's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Could be a leaking shock. I think so. My in-law had the rear shocks replaced twice for her Camry with 56K miles on the odometer. Today it's almost 1.5 mm lower. Made appt. for Wed. -
My 07GS350 AWD has 41K miles. Yesterday I noticed the rear end is not leveled. So I did a measurement. The driver's side wheelwell is about 1mm lower than the passeneger's side. The tire pressure is the same on two rear tires. It's too early for a shock absorber to go bad. The front end is completely leveled. Any GS350 AWDs owners experience the same?

Runflat Tire Issues (`08 Gs460)
charlieGS350 replied to estraordinaire's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
You got 50000 miles out of a set of runflats? That is amzaing if that is the case. The runflats falling apart on the inside is a common problem when it age on the GS, every GS owner should inspect the inside of the OEM run flat as they age. I would have replace the runflat with the Michelin Primicy instead of the MXV4, its a much better tire. I got 40K miles out of RFT from my 07GS350AWD. The tires still had 5/32 tread left when I replaced them couple months ago with the same RFT. All four tires wore evenly inside & outside. Dealer said I did well on the tires. Agree Primacy performes on wet & snow better than MXV4. Have them on my Accord. Love them. Primacy has a zero pressure feature. I found out the hardway. One time, on the way to work. Just out of the drive way I heard a flapping noise from the rear. Didn't think it was something serious so continued driving and would check the noise out when I got to work. Got on the highway & drove 65-80 mph on a 16 mile trip. Got to work, walked around the rear & noticed the rear passenger side tire was completely flat. The sidewall was burnt. The tire was still attached to the rim. I just had the car serviced the day before. So I knew it could be the valve was not closed after the tech checked the tire pressure which caused the air leakage for a full day. Oh man. I was lucky that the tire didn't come off the rim. That would be a big mess on the highway. Tire hazard insurance paid 1/3 for a new tire. -

Gs350 Dunlop Run-flat Tire Uneven Wear

My 07GS350 AWD still has the original RFT with 37K miles on them. They wear evenly on the inner & outer sides. The tires are rotated every 5K miles. -
08 Gs350 - 3 Major Issues
charlieGS350 replied to MXRacer's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Don't bother to bring the car back. The only way to fix the creaking noise is to remove the dashboard & make a repair. The pad I mentioned before is called shelves liner. The creaking noise hasn't come back since I stuffed the dampener in the gap between the windshield & dashboard. The location is between the vent hole & a small speaker on each side. For the brake pads, I don't see any difference in braking performance. The squealing noise is gone. So is the excessive brake dust. The new shims are used to fix the squealing noise. I asked them to replace the brake pads due to excessive brake dust while they were going to put on the new shims. -

Just had mine in for 5,000 mile service, asked them to fix the windshield creaking, dealer stuffed some foam between dash and windshield. Will see how it works. I have Starfire Pearl paint and am noticing small rust spots, dealer says rail dust, am taking it back to have them buffed out. Anyone else have this problem? I did it myself for my 07GS350. The foam won't work. It has to be something made of eslatic material. I think what happens the entire dash board is shaking when the car runs over a bump. They have a loose dashboard. When the dashboard shakes, it rubs agaisnt the windshield and causes the creaking noise. I used the vibration dampener made of eslatic material. And it works. The foam still makes creaking noise when the dashboard rubs against it. Don't do the TSB for this problem. It won't resolve the noise. Got 9LA 9LB, squealing brake noise (Lexus uses different shim for the pads), and TSB for too much brake dust services in one day. The dealer filled the gas tank for 9LA service. Charlie, I have the same problem, dealer tried 5 times already - no fix so far. Where do you get this vibration dampener made of eslatic material? Does the dealer have it? Thanks I got the vibration dampener from where I work. I think the rubber pads people use to put on the closet shelves might work too. But the closet pad's thickness is only half what I used. So you may have to fold it. My wife bought the closet pads from the Target or Walmart. -

Sticking anything in between the dashboard and the windshield to stop the creaking noise is just a temporary fix. All you are doing is stretching out those plastic clips, the noise will come back sooner or later. Thats fix is fine if you dont plan to keep your car for long. It has been 3 months since I placed the eslactic vibration damper between the dashboard & windshield. So far no more creaking noise. -
Extended Warranty?
charlieGS350 replied to richromero's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Try Troy from Toyota of Greenfield (MA). His full name is Troy Dietrich. He's at 413-772-0231. He has been the cheapest source for Lexus warranty I have found so far. I bought a 7 year 100000 Lexus platnium warranty from him for $1700, the dealer wanted $2600. Got EW 7yrs/100K Lexus Platinum $0 deductible 2 yrs ago for my 07GS350 for $1800 from dealer after showing them the on-line quote from one of the Lexus dealers. They initiallyl wanted $2500 for it. -

Help! Interior Water Leak!
charlieGS350 replied to FlexLexGS300's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Some of the 07s still have this problem. My 007GS350 serial number is included in the affected vehicles. The car hasn't shown any leak yet. But one thing bothers me. I used the A/C for about one hour until I got home today. After the car was parked for an hour, I didn't see any water puddle on the ground. -
Help! Interior Water Leak!

There is an TSB (AC003R-07) regarding this water leak. The affected vehicles: all GS300, some 07GS's and IS's. Caused: HVAC evaporator drain blocked.
