  1. I've been thinking alot about people who do the 2JZ-GTE swap out in their IS. A single turbo set up seems more efficient, but why do a 2JZ-GTE swap out and then change to single big turbo....why not just turbo an IS300 and do a 6speed conversion?

But thats just thoughts and also beside the point....my real question is, if you do a 6 speed conversion to a N/A IS300, will there be that much acceleration gained?

If yes, any clue as to what the procedure would cost?

    Thanks,

  2. I keep reading about headers for the IS300 and Toyomoto keeps getting mentioned again and again. I went to their website and just want to clarify whether or not the headers are street legal or off road only. If they aren't street legal, anyone know of some that are legal with great gains?

Also, how much do the Toyomoto headers add in horsepower?

    Thanks,

    John

  3. I used to drive a 95 SC300 5speed...loved it. But I heard some mechanics when I was at my dad's work (Lexus of Austin) saying something about converting the auto tranny to a manual 6 speed in the SC400. My question is..can it be done? Has anyone ever done it before? Seems like it would be ridiculously awesome idea.

Secondly, if it could be converted to manual...would it be possible to turbo/twin turbocharge the engine? Once again, has anyone ever done that?

Just was on my mind and thought i'd spit it out and see what you guys ( and gals) thought.

  4. OK guys, found a Supra that I might get...possibly...turning 18 here next month and it's time to get another car...dad won't let me drive the Mustang due to no airbags...so, I have a question: What is the difference between the SC300 and Supra non-TT? My dad works at Lexus of Austin and say's , "It's not the same car." Anyone know anything that proves him wrong or just want to give some tidbits of info?

Your help is very appreciated as always.

  5. Well, I was driving...going too fast and took a corner too hard...there was a bump in the road that I didn't see. I jumped it and when I landed the car went sideways, jumped the side railing and flew like 30 feet down to some trees. Had to hike all the way back up...not fun. Dad is actually being really cool about it. The Police thought that under the circumstances, I should have died...luckily...no scratch on me....kinda weird.

    GOOD NEWS!

Dad and I are currently looking for another SC300 5speed! Only bad thing is that we are having little to no success. Hoping to find one that's a dark blue or black...if you know anything or anyone with one with low-mid miles...reasonably priced...and 5 speed..SEND ME A PM!

    Thanks for the support guys.

  6. Well guys, i'm afriad that I have some bad news. Last night I was out driving...lost control of my car and ran it off a cliff...car is totalled but at least i'm OK. Really disappointed that I no longer drive a SC300 but am also proud/glad that I did. The car saved my life, if I was in the Mustang I would have surely died.

  7. I was driving down the highway earlier tonight...helps me clear my head and seems to make almost all my problems go away. I came to this stop light, and low and behold, one of my old favorites was next to me...a Mazda RX-7 turbo. The guy driving had his windows up...mine were down. GREEN! No race...we just accelerated...somehow I was going a bit faster than him...I guess he took it personally and tried to show me who the boss of the road currently was...I watched and grinned...downshifted into 3rd and floored it. Hit 87 then down to 4th...this guy had his !Removed! handed to him. I couldn't help but grin and be proud of myself but more importantly, my car. I truly do love my car and damn near everything about it. What a true auto masterpiece.

Just thought i'd share this story with you guys. Off to bed now. Night

  8. Yeah, really easy to do and almost IMMEDIATE results...you just soak the light down and sand away...took me a little bit to find 2000 grit sandpaper but i found it...just start sanding and then all of the sudden the water will turn murky and then you just wipe that away and put fresh water on and repeat OVER and OVER and OVER again. I HIGHLY recommend this if your headights are cloudy.

  9. Thanks all y'all. Your input with the headlights being smoky and how to clean them was VERY helpful. Looks like new!

One quick question: Does anyone know if any manufacturer has ever produced headlights for the SC300 in glass as apposed to plastic? Seems like it would make more sense for them to be glass. Just my two cents though.

    Thanks again!

  10. OK, I am tired of having limited power...really want to upgrade to a Supra TT engine..have a few questions:

    1. What is the difference in horsepower?

    2. What is the cost of having one put in?

    3. Where could I find one?

    4. Fuel economy - any big increases or losses?

Mike be able to get one rather soon if I can convince my dad to let me sell my first car (1966 Mustang). He loves that car and I hate it...was my first...just takes up space in garage. :geek:
