  1. Hey Scott, It was at the dealer, and they did check out my car thoroughly. Last night, I took the car over to another avid Lexus DIY'er, and we identified the location where the grinding was taking place (front, drivers' side). We then jacked the car up and took the corresponding tire off the car. When we looked at the wheel, the back side of the rim had a ring of scraped metal stripped from it. I then looked at the brakes, and noticed one of the clips that was not completely seated in its normal spot. I pulled the safety pin, and the main pin, reseated the clip (soft tapping with hammer), and reassembled. Put tire back on, and the grinding is gone! I am going to call the dealer and let them know that they are lucky that wasn't something worse. Hopefully they will take the attitude that they owe me one after this. Thanks for your reply. That was my next task, if this hadn't worked out this quickly and easily.
  2. Hello all, On my 95 LS400, when I back out of a parking spot (low speed reverse), as soon as I apply the brake, there is a grinding sound that is taking place. I do not remember this being the case before taking the car to the dealership, and I wasn't sure if when they rotated the tires/checked the brakes if they might have done something to the car, or if there is something I can do to investigate further what the prob is? I can't really jack the car up, remove the tire, and drive in reverse along with inspecting the area for what is making the grinding sound all at the same time. Any suggestions? Will
  3. I was reading this topic and I think it is great that you found a way to connect the Ipod up. If you cut the wires and put the corresponding RCA connectors on, and purchase two splitters to connect to the head unit wires, it should allow for multiple inputs. Basically, this will allow the CD changer to send a signal when the Ipod is not, or the Ipod to send the signal when the CD is not. If you accidently push both through at the same time, it will sound like garbage. Please do scan and post the wiring diagram. There are many that would like to see it.
  4. Hi, I recently had my timing belt, tensioners, water pump, transmission flush, air and oil filter change and had an electrical "Fuel Trim Error" corrected. The fuel trim error was a broken wire that they said was repaired. Anway, long story made long, I went to Autozone to get some SimpleGreen to clean my plastics and eventually the metal under the hood. When I removed the fan belt cover (the very first cover you come to under the hood that directs air to the air filter), I noticed that there were 2 screws and a strip of metal that was pristine clean while everything else around it is not. There is also a wire that is not plugged in. Can you help me identify this and possibly give me some advice as to how best to resolve this situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have ordered a manual and it has not arrived yet, and if this is urgent (I don't know my car that well yet), I would really appreciate some advice. 95 LS400 147K. Thanks for the help in advance! 5. Hellow All! I am new to the club and have made it through 45 pages so far of postings. Needless to say, I am excited to read more. You all definitely rock on the sarcasm and humor. I have caught myself laughing out loud several times! As for my recent purchase, I bought a 95ls400 with 144K miles on it. I went to the dealership for the 150K checkup (at 147K) and they did the timing belt, tensioners, water pump, tranny fluid flush, oil change, and ... wait for it... yes, a CAR WASH! (Glad I closed the sun roof!) Okay, now for THE LIST: passenger seatbelt retractor super weak power steering fluid leak (on my list of soon todo's) timing belt bushing a tad noisy (another on the list - belt, tensioner/pully?) headlight assembly small rock hole on passenger side parking light on driver side front needs bulb replaced hood struts (read, ordered, and waiting for arrival to install) trunk spings/struts (still reading, I got close to 200 more pages to go) inside, there are some vibrations (one near the dome light and one coming from the back somewhere) shot glass holders are great - Oh, those are CUP HOLDERS... driver's side door lock mechanism a tad shady - (took door apart, but was overwhelmed...) remote trunk release not working Needless to say that it was a huge upgrade from my motorcycle. Really, no complaints. I am just so stoked not to be pulling bugs out of my teeth now when I get to work. One of the best things I have done. Figured this was a good place to make my first post. Looking forward to reading more.
