Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking seriously about the Alenza based on RXRey's input as well as others but the Yokohama Parada Spec-X looks really good to me right now. I found them as cheap as $135.62 each online and plan on letting Discount Tire match the price.
Tom
I assume you meant letting a local Discount Tire store match the price. Don't forget to figure in shipping.
Yes, Jim, shipping is a factor. but it offsets local sales tax. Because of this Discount matches the prices without consideration for shipping.

I don't get the US/Canadian distinction, but more than that, the idiocy of irritating a paying customer by cheaping out on a quick exterior wash.

For that kind of money you could pay a metal fabricator to make a shield from aluminum and one that was better designed to not pack with snow.

Gee, thanks boys and girls. Not one comment on tires?

There has been quite a bit mentioned over the last few years in various posts on replacement tire options and sizes for our 400hs. Perhaps we could gather these opinions and into a new dedicated thread.
Please add your comments, opinions, experiences, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Well the economy has hurt everyone here, but I seriously doubt that Weathetech is out of business. I have seen their operation and they seem to do very well. And they still have multi-page ads in major car magazines.

Madlo, it is time for an old fashioned, post office letter to the CEO of Lexus of America. Emails are usually ignored but letters are read, re-read, and passed on for someone to handle.

I'm not sure I agree. Those are two completely different cars including dimensionally.

CD a long shot that sometimes works for me is to take an online price to a local dealer and ask if they will match it. If they can still make a profit they sometimes will sell it at your price. This would solve your shipping problem of course.

It's OK CD, do whatever you want with your car. It is after all yours. I did some controversial things to my early cars including painting a 64-1/2 Mustang hypo a hideous color of Cadillac purple. Do I have any regrets? No. It made me happy which is all that counts.

The only voice command my RX can consistently recognize is "screw up voice command."

Next time simply tell the dealer that the "clips seem to be missing." Phrasing can be everything when it comes to warranty matters. :)

You have just earned the "Lexus Owner's Club Shortest Post Award." :)

Using a torch, I traced the source of the water was dripping from a black rubber tube pointed downwards.
Aus,
I hope you really didn't use a torch to check under your RX. Hopefully, in Australia, a torch is a flashlight! :D
Dave
Just be careful you don't refer to it as a "fleshlight."

I like my 400h too. Yes it has some things that could be improved and it has a few quirks. But overall it is an enjoyable car to drive. If I want a sporty drive I take my Porsche; if I want to haul stuff I take my Yukon. If I just want to get somewhere in style and confort I take my 400h.

I've yet to see one driving on the road. This neighborhood I frequent is known for lexus owners.. I have even seen two LS 600hl(s).
I saw one LS600h in a parking lot and attempted to chat with the owners but I was treated like a commoner without my grey poupon so I gained little knowledge of ownership.

I generallly keep my unused spare as a spare for long beyond 5 years. Afterall, it is a spare, and will rarely if ever see any use. And if it does I will simply drive moderately until I fix the damaged/flat tire.

My experience has been that Lexus dealers ALWAYS have these in stock, probably because they work so bass-ackward that they are easy to break.

Unfortunately this is OBD2 which won't work on older vehicles, like my Porsche 968. Bummer.

CD do you know for a fact that Lexus warranties leather or vinyl repairs for a certain length of time? I would strongly suspect that these sort of repairs carry a reasonably short warranty simply because they are repairing, not replacing the subject items.

I get many of my referrals from calling high end dealers and asking directly who they use for dents, upholstery, whatever. The yellow pages can be risky; it doesn't take much to become a "specialist" in whatever field they are in.

If I am not mistaken, the owner's manual wording for fuel requirement is different for each of 2006, 2007, and 2008 RX400h's.

Lemon, would it be practical to move the Scangauge from one vehicle to another? Would it require only a second pair of cables?
