  1. I have a 99 Rx300. I purchased it 3 years ago from a friend who had it serviced at the Lexus dealer. I now have 140,000 miles on the vehicle. The only problem I've had was the Idle aire control valve which I corrected myself by using this site. I've had no problems with the transmission or the engine. It has been an excellent vehicle. I've found that getting some things done at the Toyota dealer was less expensive than the Lexus Dealer. I'm sure they are as competent.
  2. The dealer told me that I needed a new throttle position sensor. With the help of this site I decided to do the job myself. After purchasing the part from the dealer I installed the sensor. When I started the car the idle was racing up and down. I put the old sensor back in and it sounds fine. I called the dealer and the parts guy sent my call to the shop. I asked if the sensor needed to be calibrated or if there was a test to see if the sensor was bad. Of course he stated that I needed to bring the car in for them to check it out. My question is twofold. Does the sensor need to be calibrated and is there a check that can be done on the old and new sensor to see if they are bad. Thanks
  3. I was told by the Lexus dealer that I needed 2 parts. A TPS sensor and an O sensor. The quote for the parts from the Lexus dealer was 85.00 for the TPS and 277.00 for the O sensor. I then called the Toyota dealer down the street and the same parts were 54.00 and 207.00. The Toyota dealer was also 100.00 less for a transmission flush. Just thought I would pass that on to anyone who wants to buy parts from the dealer and not get taken.
