  1. Hi Eagle and everyone- How do you clean the fuel injectors and fuel throttle body? Please provide me more detail, i want to do this service for my car. thanks
  2. Hey, you can try Boch Toyota in Norwood or Toyota in Dorchester...
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi All- I alway use the premium 93 since i had my RX. I still get some the Pinging noise when the speed is under 35mph. The noise will be worse with regular gas. This just happen after the engine has warm enough. Sometime it's disappeared and come back anytime. I did check the engine oil, Transmission fluid, coolant, and used a bottle of Fuel system clearner from Chevon. My temp gause showing 45% after finish the warm up. I got between 14-15mpg (city only). I drive about 4 miles (one way)with heavy traffic jam everyday that it took my about 25-35min. Please give some advice before i go to the dealer. I just worry when i bring to them the ping sometime disappear. Thanks everyone in advance.
  4. Hi all- I want to remove the cross bars but I’ve afraid the two side rails would not strong enough to stand alone. It seems the rail look so weak to me. Do you think the removal will help reduce the wind noise? Thanks everyone.
  5. I'm sorry to bring you the old post. I know most everyone here already had the firmware upgrade. How is your car now? I just got mine done a few days ago(38K). I noticed it's better now but I just start to worry the lag problem will come back like before. The car has been updated twice, 21K from previous owner. Have anyone had a second update? Lexus only pay twice ECM calibration. Thanks all.
  6. Lexus also say that they only can do the upgrade twice under warranty. I bought this car as used so the previous owner already did one at 21K and now i got another one at 38K. If the problem come back so i have to pay by myself???? i hope the tranmission shift the same as now. Please give me an advice again!
  7. That's right, i did not expect too much from the upgrade i just hope it will better. Anyway i'm happy now with the shift and will adjust my drive style everyday, trying avoid the lag as much as i can. Thanks again
  8. Finally, I got the firmware upgrade (TSB: TC003-05) from the dealer after I had argued with them and gave out a lot of reason regarding safety. At first the service consultant did not believe the upgrade would help. He shows me the computer screen and I know the upgrade only apply between 10 to 20mph, my RX get the lag exactly between 5-8mph. I kept asking them to do it (sometime we need to raise our voice guys) because I want to take a chance. Now, I can notice my babyX shift just fine its hold the high gear better, smoothly. The LAG is still but I can feel it about 40% of improvement because I take the same route, same stop sign, and same foot on pedal (drive style)… I could tell. The transmission shift a little bit weir now but it’s a good weir. I sometime feel the thud when downshift but that’s not bothering me like the lag. I look on the paper work with the note: The shift will take time to improve and use the PREMIUM GAS ONLY. My question is: Why will it take time to improve? I believe the electronic thing will affect right away…nothing will change until you do something? Is my car will change the way it shifts in the future? It will come back like before the upgrade. I’m so confused. Thanks a lot everyone for the post in the past I also look forward for the new opinion from you all.
  9. May i ask waht is your problem? hesitate or lag? I'm still really not sure the firmware upgrade will apply for my case. I talked by the phone with service advicer this evening. He asks me a lot of question regarding this problem that i hope i will convince them to do something to get out of this. If i could not find the way out.....so it's time to say good bye "Lexus RX" i'm so tired of this problem. I drive to work about 4 miles per day(all local drive with many traffic jam and a lot of stop sign.) I'll keep you all the update after this wed.
  10. I know a lot of owners have the transmission lag in this forum and hesitate . I', curious how do you get out of it? Again, i just want to make sure these TSB below for both problem. I just did set up an appointment with other lexus dealer to take a look. Component Description: 48. POWER TRAIN Bulletin Number: TC00503 Bulletin Date: AUG 2003 Vehicle: 2004 Lexus RX 330 Summary: ECM CALIBRATION SHIFTING ENHANCEMENT. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10003558 ) Component Description: 44. POWER TRAIN Bulletin Number: 00503 Bulletin Date: AUG 2003 Vehicle: 2004 Lexus RX 330 Summary: TO IMPROVE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT FEELING DURING SPECIFIC OPERATING MODES, THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) CALIBRATION HAS BEEN REVISED. ORIGINAL WAS NOT RECEIVED. ( NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10016159 )
  11. I had the same problem like your in my RX330. Specially when i drive up the hill i can hear that noise a little bit. I read the manual that it said ok and lexus dealer said ok too. I don't know if the "Clearner Fuel system" may help. Anyone?
  12. I did mention the upgrade to 2 difference dealers that they both say the same: ECM firmware upgrade is only apply to high speed(over 20mph). My problem with low speed, the LAG only appear between (5-8mph). When you do upgrade if the shift is not improved you can never go back...may be its worse. My RX has shift perfect from 10mph up. The car run very smooth in highway speed too.
  13. Thanks all for your response. I read the manual & maintenance book that is still not clear to me so I called Lexus and they recommend changing all same tires. Before I call them I’m sure that they would say this because the car still under warranty (37K). They don’t want you to try something weir. Conclusion, I decided to rotate the tire and replace the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza instead of OEM Michelin before the winter. I read some of review about the Bridgestone that is more quiet and handing. I’m really not satisfied with OEM tire about the road noise but I still doubt Bridgestone. Do you have any experience with Bridgestone tire? Your option is really helpful to me. Thanks again.
  14. Be sure to check the way how tranmission shift in Low & high speed. Do a real test drive( local/highway) and trying to hear level of cabin noise/ any rattles.....
  15. Hi all- Please read the message below from RX members who have exactly the same as mine about the transmission shift: “It has a nagging delay when accelerating from near stop“ “a real dog. Transmission problems make the drive jerky. Have been told by repair people they have other similar compalints about transmission problem. We were told car will "adjust to our driving style." What??? “ “I OWN A 2004 LEXUS RX330. SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT, THERE HAS BEEN A POWER "FADE" WHEN I MAKE SUDDEN SPEED CHANGES USUALLY FROM A SLOW DOWN TO QUICK ACCELERATION--SAY A LANE CHANGE TO AVOID SLOWER TRAFFIC. THERE IS APPROXIMATELY 2 OR 3 SECONDS WHEN THERE IS NO RESPONSE FROM PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. IT FEELS LIKE ALL POWER FALLS AWAY. I AM LEFT LIKE A SITTING DUCK UNTIL THE VEHICLE DECIDES WHAT TO DO WITH MY COMMAND. IF I AM CROSSING A MEDIAN, I MUST ALLOW FOR THIS DELAY. HOWEVER, IF I HAVE TO CHANGE LANES TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE MAKING AN UNSIGNALED TURN OR SUDDEN STOP, I AM PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHERS IN DANGER BECAUSE I CANNOT COUNT ON HAVING THE POWER TO AVOID THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME BY CHANGING LANES AND THEN I RISK AN INCIDENT IN TRYING TO MATCH THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE THAT IS NOW BEHIND ME. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS WITH LEXUS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS INCLUDING ONE TRIP WHERE I DEMANDED THAT THE MASTER MECHANIC RIDE WITH ME. HE EXPLAINED THAT LEXUS IS AWARE AND THAT IT IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM FOR WHICH THERE IS NO PATCH AVAILABLE. AS OF TODAY, THERE IS STILL NO CURE. THE LAST UPDATE MY VEHICLE RECEIVED WAS IN SEPT 2006.” I came to Lexus dealer to complain about this 3 time already. They sent the tech along with me for test drive….the answers is normal.. normal…and they keep saying normal :cries: that I really disappointed about it. The other option they give me that they will try to set up the appointment for me to meet the Lexus rep,or the lexus engineer who come to the dealer every month. 1/What benefit I can get from Lexus Rep or engineer? 2/Do they have a way to fix? 3/Is Lexus working on the new update software? Or they ignore the problem (as I know there is a small % of RX 330-04 has this problem) I’m very happy with my RX now. To me, everything is almost perfect except for transmission. I want to keep the car for a long term if I can get out of the LAG. Thank you everyone in advance for your comment!!!
  16. Hi everyone- I’m planning to replace just the front tires because I don’t want to rotate the rear to the front. My original tire is Michelin, now I want to replace the Bridgestone better for handing and quiet. Do you recommend using two different tires? Will it has any problem with the road noise or handing. Thank you in advance for you advice
  17. Hi everyone! I have a RX330-04 that i'm planning to install after market overhead DVD player but i also feel painfull for cutting the hole on the ceiling! Is there anyone experience on this? I afraid the installation will affect to the other part of the car. Thank you in advance for your advice!
  18. After so many test with running many of different gas. My RX only drink Premium 93 for better performance, no Pinging noise.
  19. I checked with dealer about the transmission shift in low speed, After they ran my car and other car for comparison . They 're not recommend me to do software update. They ask me to use 93 octaine to get better performance but i have to live with this problem. THey said it seems the transmission shift almost perfect from 10mph up, so that they want to do it because the update can not uninstalled. I'm living in the city that i drive in low speed almost all the time. HOW CAN I LIVE WITH PROBLEM UNTIL 100K on this car??? I can pay for premium gas but can't pay 35K Lexus for bad performace. I'm going to check a couple about this issue and go back to dealer again very soon. Can you please help with your suggestion? 20. Believe me or not, after I used 4 tanks of 89, 3 of 93 and 2 of 87 that I’m very sure 87 octanes giving me a better transmission shift in low speed. This is not my imagination! I had agreed with some of you the premium 93 giving better performance compare to 87. (You can easily note if you drive a lot of local road and many traffic lights). I’m going tell Lexus dealer tomorrow to see what they can check. Thanks all for your post.
  21. Hello all, I just had noted that Octane 87 help the transmission shift smoothly. I have a problem with the lag time in low speed; the transmission seems to slip into about 2 second of Neutral. This just happen when I put Octane 89 or Premium 93. It sound like did make any sense that the cheap gas run smoothly than good gas. Is there any body has the same situation? I have an appointment with dealer for checking ECM CALIBRATION SHIFTING ENHANCEMENT. I would like to have you recommend in this case. Thanks a lot in advance.
  22. I was so sick with the car making a lot of noise....from Old Honda Civic to new Civic 2001.....to CR-V 2003....to Acura 2001, It's now LEXUS. I'm still not satify with the car which call smoothly drive and quiet.
  23. Hello everyone! I noted there's a humming noise everytime i turn the A/C ON. Its worse when stopping at traffic light. The Lexus dealer said, there're a lot of 04-05 RX330 owners complain about this problem. Lexus made the new part (Clutch) to resolve it. Now, I'm still waiting for them to call me when the part arrive. For my 04 RX, My concern is humming noise when A/C OFF. I still hear the humming noise when i turn off the A/C but this is much better. Could you please tell me what is problem? I don't think this happen to the 3 or 4 years old car even old my MDX 2001 with 79K that i can't hear noise when stop at red light. My RX just has over 30K miles. Many Thanks!
  24. Hi Everyone, I just switched to RX330 from my MDX. This is amazing car, so smoothly drive, luxury and MPG. I did 30k service by myself that inclued replacing A/C filter, engine filter, transmission fluid, engine oil. I'm thinking to replace front & rear differential fluid and coolant flush by dealer. Do you all think this is good time to do these or wait until 60k? I read the note under hood, there's no need to replace coolant until 100,000. Please give me an advice in this stuff. Thanks all
