  1. I'll bet you've got it off by now. I've had the door panels off my 93 SC 300 a couple of times in the last month or so, shocked with how simple it was (the second time, any way.) There is a screw behind the door handle, has a little plastic cover to hide it from view. Cover pops off with a flathead. If you got that one and still can't get it off, hmm... 2 armrest screws, two screws under color-matched caps along the leading edge of the door... There also might be a little pressure from the switch panels, but they pop out. Good luck. Oh, wait! Might be the cables from the door handle and the lock hanging you up. Sitting in your front seat, you lift the door panel and a few inches from the frame, then, looking over the top between frame and door panel, you'll see the quick releases for the door handle and lock.
  2. A reputable local shop quoted me 1200.00 for the head gasket - I'd do that before the engine swap, but that's 'cause I'm cheap and timid. Love to hear how your 2jz-gte swap goes... for when the engine in my '93 finally dies.
  3. That bezel and boot piece was only 45 bucks - Sold! Can't wait 'til it arrives. Might even look OK with my plain black plastic knob 'til I find a cheap Lexus one. My Lexus dealer quoted me 311 for the knob, 110 for the boot, and 611 for the bezel. THanks for your help.
  4. Thanks - Now I know what that thing was. The theives broke the Interior temp sensor and damaged the pig-tail. I'll fix it or get a new one. Learning as I go. Thanks again.
  5. Hi All, I just put my salvaged SC300 5spd on the road today but still have some parts and pieces to track down. I haven't found a shift knob, boot, and bezel anyplace but the Lexus store, and the parts-counter guy just blew me away with his quoted price. I have a $9.99 Schucks eight-ball knob, a bare lever, and a big hole in my console. (Car is still plenty fun to drive) I'll find them all eventually, or make something that works and looks better, but wondered if any of you had a better idea. Where would you look for these pieces? Do any of you with tricked-out custom cars have your old parts to sell? I'd appreciate any help.
  6. I just bought a '93 SC300 5spd with 119k miles at an insurance auction for 2400.00. Have put about that much into it again replacing glass and interior pieces that were vandalized or stolen. Everything is working except the heater switch. When I dial in "Max Cold" the AC works just like it should, ice cold. However, one click the other direction, with the LCD reading "65," I get HOT air. Really hot. <_< So hot that I don't notice any difference as I turn the temp dail up to maximum. What does this mean? Do I need a new switch? I hope it's something simple like that, and I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions.
