  1. I was just wondering if any one could give me some advice on a strange problem I'm having with the radio fuse #1 under the hood. After hearing two pops a few seconds apart, my radio went dead. It wouldn't even power on. So naturally, I checked both fuses for the radio, and the one in the engine compartment was blown. The fuse under the dash was fine. But when I tried to replace the 20 amp fuse, it blew as soon as I put the fuse in place. The car was off. They key was not even in the ignition, but some how that fuse slot is still getting a current running through it, and enough to blow the fuse instantly. Everything else works fine. Every other fuse is still intact. But even with the car totally off, I get a spark, then a blown fuse only in that one fuse socket. Number 23 I belive. My sc400 is 100% stock. Inside and out. And I haven't needed to repair anything for the last six months. Thanks for you help.
  2. Got a call from the dealer (Toyota). Turns out the timing belt tensioner caused the belt to jump some teeth. Both the belt and the tensioner need to be replaced.
  3. I need some help with my 1993 SC400. I bought the car about 2 months ago. Since then I've had a to replace a few things, mainly the serpentine belt tensioner. Besides that, nothing under the hood. Every thing was fine until about 2 weeks ago when I notice it was driving a little rough. Then while on the highway, it started to run like total *BLEEP*. When I mat the gas I get no acceleration. It runs at about 300rpms at idle, and when the throttle is pressed, it is very rough throughout the rpm range. Like its only running on 6 of the 8 cylinders. The exhaust smells very very rich to me. I was told that the timing belt needed to be changed, but that was done 40k miles ago, and after inspection, it looks almost brand new. Any ideas? -Jon P
