  1. Hi all. A month or two ago I purchased a 2000 ES300 for $4,500. I'm 20 years old, and my father owns a car dealership and a service center, so I got the car for what he told me at least $5,000 off. It is in very very good shape, paint, interior, engine all runs good, but it does has 130,000 miles. The problem is when I hit a bump, from the front of the car, when I hit a bump with either the left or right wheel, it makes a "clunking" noise. I do not think it is the struts, because the car does not bottom out or ride rough, but maybe the towers? Even on the little bumps it makes this noise. It sounds like the plastic shields are loose, but I have checked it and that is not the problem. My father is busy, so I don't want to bother him with what he calls "stupidity" but I would like to know what the problem is because I actually love this car and don't want it to fail on me. I hope someone can help me and can solve this annoying problem, annoying to me anyway. Thank you!
  2. It seems that the people who own these vehicles tend to buy or lease them brand new and can either bring them back to the dealer for warranty work or if they are used can usually afford to pay a mechanic to fix the problems. Lexus drivers are not really DIY individuals. That and these cars really do not have any major problems unless they are a 15+ year old car with a ton of miles, which I'm sure your car falls under that category. You buy a cheap car old car, your only going to have expensive problems. You will have to be patient to get answers on this forum.
  3. I almost certain they do not make any aftermarket fogs for 1995 ES300's. They do not make any (good) aftermarket parts for these cars anyway, unless they are cheap looking. Do not take any offense, but I think you need to get rid of your Contour. That car is very ugly, even with the modifications that you have probably worked hard putting into the car. I am not trying to disrespect you, but it is very ugly, and its a Contour, one of the worst cars Ford has built, and really nothing to be proud of. I would suggest that you sell the Ford for the $2,000-$3,000 it is worth and then custom make some fog lights for your Lexus. Either that or sell both of your cars and buy something like a 2002+ ES300. I'm sure you will be much more happier with that. Just a suggestion. *Edit* I can not help it, and I do feel bad, but it is just some objective criticism. The Contour needs to go. It does not give Mustang a run for its money unless its a Fox body 4-cyl, and that car only turns heads because it looks plain retarded. I really am sorry, but that car is horrible. Please do not get offended.
  4. Not my style, too "ghetto." If you wanted that look, you should have bought a BMW. They are called angel eyes, by the way, not "demon eyes."
  5. My 00 has very slight wind noise from the drivers side window. I just turn up the radio a little bit and that eliminates everything.
  6. Thanks for the info guys. Though my Jetta had tons of problems, I loved the car. Solid as a rock, and definitely more safe then Toyota. Since my father has a dealership/repair shop, all I paid for was cost for it. Down side was the parts for the Jetta was too much. $275 for a power steering hose, $350 for a window regulator, much more then the parts for the Lexus would be. As of right now, this Lexus is a really good, smooth, reliable car (I am a poor college kid). I do prefer German, but only way I will buy another one if is is new, or has an extended warranty.
  7. Thank you for the very informative response. I too have been on several forums for the all the vehicles I have been fortunate to own, and as welll as you, every forum has been different. Surprisingly, I am the type of "kid" that likes stock more then ricer kids. My father has his share of classics. 1969 Road Runner 62 Vette, 63 Split Window Vette, 84 Cadillac Eldorado convertible that he bought in 86, my mother drives an 05 Cayenne, and my sister drives an 03 S500. I was just surprised that this forum was not as active as the other ones that I have been on. What I have noticed are that the people who are subscribed to this forum, and who drive Lexus' in general are more mature individuals who are more concerned about the necessities about their vehicles instead of intakes and rims like the other forums then I have been subscribed to. I am thankful the response, and I rather be in a forum that is not all about HID's and turbos and people who have vast knowledge about the cars they drive. I also apologise about any mistakes on my spelling, I did this quick on my Blackberry. Thank you, Jim.
  8. Hi. New member just sharing my car. Its a 2000 ES300, 130,000 and my 6th car (Im only 20). Seems that all my other cars cant handle me. Previous cars were a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SE, 1991 BMW 318i, 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300TE, 2000 Toyota Camry 4cyl, and a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8t. My father owns a dealership, so I only paid $5,000 for this. Almost mint condition considering its an older car. Options include heated seats, 6 disc CD changer, and factory HID's. I love the way these cars ride, very smooth. It could be a little quicker off the line, but when your on the highway, it has no problem getting up to 80. My plans are to keep it stock, Im really not into modifying cars, and hope this one will last me a few years. I took this one pic with my cellphone, but will take more when I get a chance, Im busy with school. Also, are their any other more active Lexus forums? A lot of these topics dont seem to get many replies. The VW Forum I was on was very active, always new threads and posts.
  9. On the speedometer there is a symbol for a headlight with an arrow facing up and an arrow facing down. When I start it it seems to adjust itself, you know the lights go up then down. I did not know these came with factory HID's. Ill post some pics up in a couple of days. Im getting it detailed, new rear brakes, and struts in the rear. I had a 2003 VW Jetta but fixing those German cars are expensive and a pain the the !Removed!.
  10. I just bought a 2000 ES300. Car seems to be fully loaded. It does have HID's. Do these cars come with HID's from the factory? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hi. I currently drive a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SE, but want something a little newer. I was looking at a 1996 ES300, and was wondering what typical problems this car has (if any). Thanks in advance!
