  1. I am the original owner of a '91 LS400 with 82,000 miles. It is Pearl White with blue grey interior. The car is 100% original, paint and interior, garaged, timing belt replaced, and oil changed regularly. Now for the bad news! The car was parked in my garage when rags with some wood preservative caught fire. There was no mechanical damage to the car since there was very little heat, but the insurance company totalled it. I kept the car and cleaned it thoroughly. There is a trace smell of something when I turn the AC on. Anyway, I may consider selling it. It runs perfectly. Everything works perfectly including the lcd's in the climated control system. The intererior is immaculate but the exterior has some light staining in the paint. Let me know if anyone there is interested. I live in Pleasant Hill, CA. My email address is terkam@comcast.net Teek
  2. My '91 LS400 was in my garage with the garage door closed when rags stored in the rafters caught fire. The car survived pretty well, however, it would be extremely difficult to clean smoke residue out of the cabin air ducts. Has anyone tried to convert the '91 no cabin filter to a '93 HEPA filter system. I can't find any pictures to see if by removing a section behind the glove box and replacing it with a '93 section containing a filter would do the trick. I am also going to try running an ozone generator in the car for 4 hours with the heater and the fan running on high. Any ideas would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. TERRY
  3. I have a '91 LS400. Yes...it is very difficult to pull the ashtray out even though it just clips in. Here's what I did. 1. Remove wood center console, under the gear shift. To do this SAFELY, I use the suction cup apparatus from my navigator, applied the suction cup to the wood closest to the cupholders and pulled up. It EASILY popped up. Next, I opened the ashtray (didn't want to break anything..see below) and inserted a taped puddy knife in the top edge of the ashtray. I pried a little bit...enough to open up enough space to put a thin taped screw driver in. I then pried all along the top edge. It will pop out! My original problem is that the front lighter didn't work ( the back one did). I still checked the fuse which was OK. Unclip all the wires to the ashtray. When you look at the underside of the cigarette lighter there is a small black wire which is a fusable link. Mine was fried. I took the nut of the back and removed the fiber washer, bypassing the fusable link. There is a round piece of black plastic which works as the insulator and the lighter is fused so I didn't think there would be a problem. Yes...everything works great!!!
