  1. Forget it...the override was still there, but the maps weren't working right.

If anyone is wondering what I'm talking about, this is a NAV disc that has the maps from 8.1, but the system files from 5.1 The way it's supposed to work, is the disc has the new maps, but the override function is still available. Well, it worked, sort off. Override was still there, maps were new, but I couldn't enter any addresses or POIs or anything.

So you saying it still doesnt work right? I have the same vehicle you have with the same discs you have. And I know what you meen about the override being gone, it sucks!!

  2. I seem to forget from winter to winter (I live in the Chicago Area) how bad the cold weather mileage is on my 400h. It's not all that great in the summer (about 26 highway), but winter seems low for both city anf highway. Yesterday, I drove to Springfield, IL round trip. Temp was about 28 degrees. Road dry heading down there at 67 mph. Had a retired State Trooper with me who suggested I "take it easy - we're not in a hurry." Aside - Cruise control set at 70, but the actual speed is 3 mph less. Lexus will not fix it. Told me +/- 3mph is within specs. At 67 mph the 175 mile trip indicated 22.2 mpg.

The return trip in blowing snow and other assorted crud on the road at about 60 mph indicated 23.2 mpg. Local trips have been about 19 mpg. Car handled great with both dry and wet road conditions - no complaints at all. Anyone in a cold climate have better, similar or even lower averages?

I have the same year, make and model. I live in southern Minnesota so I get that same weather. I have found the same issues that you have. When its cold out it seems the engine has to run that much more so the milage is down. I did however find out that in summer keeping the speed down at 60mph or below the milage gets alot better. That is unless you have one heck of a tail wind then its fine to run a bit faster.

  3. Talked to the dealer today (Johnson Lexus in Raleigh) and the parts department said there was no Lexus hitch available for my 2006 RX400h. I found a hitch mentioned here and through Sewell online with the part number PT228-48045.

My 400h is listed as having the towing prep package, but the dealer parts guy said that didn't matter, Lexus doesn't make a hitch for it.

Anybody else run into this? Has something changed?

    Thanks!!

When I purchassed my 06 new they sold me a factory hitch at cost. It was very easy to in install. Dont know why they would say its not avalable. I purchased mine at Lexus of Wayzeta in Minnesota

  4. Well its got to be the version disk I have then that is the problem. Because I did cut the right wire in the passenger kick pannel for the nav and it still blacks out when moving. But the blue tooth does work. When I purchased this car new it had the version 5.1 in it. I was able to go in and overide the nav system and it wouldnt black out when moving. But then I installed the new verion 7.1 when it came out and now no more overiding the system. Even putting the old 5.1 disk back in didnt bring it back. Neither does cutting the blue/green wire. I am totally stumped.

I do want to see some pics of your with thoes wheels on it. I have the gold package on mine and had the factory wheels chromed

  5. I have the same problem you do. At times I drive very little so I may have 7 or 8 mionths on my oil befor it gets changed. The same thing happens with my collector cars witch will only get about 50 miles a year on them. What I do is add Lube Gard Enigine additive to my oil when doing the oil change. It keeps the acids from forming in the oil and the oil from braking down. When acids form in your oil it eats away at the babbitt used on the bearing surfaces and eventually ruining your engine.

  6. Now I have a new problem. Not sure if it is related to getting rid of the seat belt warning or not. I just went on a 1600 mile round trip and found a few problems. One was that my sun roof after tilting up had a hard time closing. The windows arent automatic up or down anymore. And when the stability control kicked in when I lost traction the warning buzzer never went off but the light came on. Wondering if this is all related to shutting off the seat belt warning. And how do I turn the seat belt warning back on?

  7. We just purchase a RX400h and are very happy with it. Can anyone tell me the difference between the navigation v5 (installed in purchased 400h) and the new v8? Do i need to upgrade?

I had the Version 5 that came with my 06 and updated to the version 7. I lost the cool feature where I could by pass the system so my passenger could use the nav while I was driving. I didnt gain a thing otherwise and was upset that the things I wanted to see added to the nav where not there. I have called all over trying to get a couple fetures added. I am no bible thumper but when I am away for the weekend it would be nice to be able to serch for churches. seems everything else is there from community center to marina.

My auto repair shop has been in business since 1956 and I am not even listed. Not sure who ya talk to in order to get things updated. I have talked with Lexus Corporate but they were not sure where to really send me.

  8. i considered the yellow top, its even sold at costco but at three times the cost of a costco battery, and with only a one year guarantee vs the other batteries three years no questions asked, and a longer prorated warranty after, that i thot id go with the costco one.

I sell battries at my shop and Interstate is the only way to go

  9. I saw a post yesterday about that lockpick overide. Where can I get that?

    Thanks, Bob

It's somewhat of a mom&pop outfit, so many have gotten frustrated with their communications. We must have been lucky because our order & phone support went ok. "she who must be obeyed" drives the lexus most of the time, and she's the one who wanted it. works great. It only took about 30-40 minutes to install, & I was in no way 'rushing' the install. If you email, make sure you put the 'e' in the address or your mail goes to a different company :P

Thanks, I see they have no phone number on the site. I have a 2006 RX400 but have the version 8 of the nav. I would think the Lockpick 1 should work fine for my vehicle wouldnt you?

Sorry, I found a phone number and gave them a call. at this time they do not have an update for me but will in a couple months..Thanks for all the help

  11. Hi bob. A quick head up. If you cut a speed sensor wire, be very carefull. The speed sensor acts to stop the vehicle from over reving in the event there's a loss of traction. The HSD can be damaged in the event where there's an over-rev because the sensor normally causes the ICE to shut down to prevent damage. With the sensor cut, your warranty will be voided if/when that's the cause of HSD damage. The lockpick NAV over-ride lets you into destination NAV inputs (and bluetooth dialing off the mfd) without the risk of accidently smoking your HSD.
