  1. Update :

Had the Trans. flushed yesterday..My Mechanic who I trust bought a new trans. flush machine and did it..The Machine he used , has tubes that go down into the trans. filler ( where u add fluid) and slowly takes out fluid and replaces it with new in a cycle while the car is in nuetral. The fluid that came out looked pretty new ..I can notice a very small improvment in shifting. But Atleast I know all the fluide was replaced 100% .

  2. heya all ,

I have read all your previous posts on Trans. flushing .. I want to have my transmission flushed next week and still not sure if it is a safe procedure ..I have 203,000 miles on my 92 .. I have changed the fluid every 10,000 miles with a new screen for the last 100,000 miles. I only use Toyota Brand fluid and if I have the flush done thats what will be used ..My Transmission Still shifts smooth , but sometimes the shifts feel a little hard. I have read that some recomend a external filter ..Do I have this installed before or after the flush? and are they avalible at your local retailer like Advance or auto zone?

My Trans. Fluid has never been discolored or black since I have owned the car.

Also Everyone talks about Diff. fluid and my mechanic has No Idea how to drain that..He said the old fluid in the diff. will come out if you lower that Pan .Is that true?Or Have I been missing Fluid all this time that needed to be Removed?

I am just Concerned , That if I have the flush done my Trans. will die. But I really would like for it too have 100% New fluid in the system.

  3. heya guys and gals,

I have a 92 es300 with about 194,000 miles ...When Ever I go around a bend or turn at 35-45 mph , my rear passenger wheel makes this noise. It is almost like a thumping noise. Everything is new in the rear from struts to mounts ...I have no ratteling or any banging noise like most ..I had the Car checked 3 times already and I was told there is no physical evedence of anything wrong with the rear , everything is solid ..I kno its not the tires becouse i just put new ones on and it was making that sound with the old ones....Also I have to be making a Trun to the right on those bends to get the noise , It does not make any noise when ever I go around left turns...Any Ideas?

    thanks ;o)

  4. heya guys and gals ,

I was searching on the net and came accross a couple web sites that sells auto glow needles..its says they are suppose to light up your needles ...I was wondering if they would work for a lexus? you can find the web sites by searching auto glow needles ..I was just curious about this and thought i would see what everyone else thought....

  5. thanks for the replys..

The noise Still contiues even with the A/C off ..What I mean by a whoooping noise , is , it is this Repetition noise ..As you increase the Rpms It gets louder but fades into the sounds of the engine , as the RPM's Drop you hear this whoooping sound again , it makes this noise as it hits a certian spot in the Belt system(that sounds where it is comming from) ..The lexus Dealer has been reliable in the past , but I took it to my private mechanic who knos the car well also and he is not sure what is making the noise....if you say the word whoop.whoop, whoop, over and over it sounds like my engine ..That is the Best way I can describe the sound...Another question is , When I let off the Gas to drift down a Hill (going about 40mph) My RPM's drops up and down for about 5 times then stops..when it does that I can feel it in the engine , as tho the engine has a MISS.

But there is nothing wrong with the spark plugs. wires.ect.. Is It just the transmission shifting back and fourth from over-drive to drive ...if so why does it make the engine do that?

  6. Hello all ,

I have a 92 with about 185,000 on her now . Been a Really Great Car for me. I have the Car serviced on time ..There is this whoooping Noise comming from my engine ..It started at aprrox. 140,000 when I had my 2nd Timming belt change..I Noticed it as Soon As I picked the Car up from the Lexus Dealership, and told them about it and they said nothing was wrong..When I drove the Car after that, everytime I put my foot on the break i could feel it pulsating with the whooping noise..Over time the pulsating in the brakes disappeared but the Whooping noise is getting louder...When I put the Car in gear (R orD )the whooping noise is louder untill the idile drops to normal...I went Back about 170,000 and told them it was driving me nuts...they Said my A/C com. Was going bad ,but was not 100% sure and that was making the noise..But my A/C works fine..However when u kick the a/c on the whoooping noise gets louder , but thats becouse the idile is higher...Does Anyone Have a Clue what I am talking about? Another Question , I Change my Trans. fluid every 8,000-10,000 miles with a new filter.Should that be enough maintance for the tranny?

  7. I have a question...I replaced my instrument cluster about 9 months ago becouse the needles burned out..my new cluster works great unless you have them turned to max brightness and the spedo starts to flicker ...I been keeping the brightness down and it dont flicker but my guestion is I like the brightness of the back ground at full brightness..Is there anyway that the needles can be bi-passed so there on a lower brighting setting than the background its self..Hope you all understand what I am trying to say...thanks :whistles:

  8. thanks steviej for answering about the caps..I did go to a toyota dealer today and they did not have the caps ..The nearest lexus dealer is 75 miles away and I am not sure if i will make it there this week with work and all...What about buying caps from some place like Auto-zone or something? Another question is,if there is Air in the system how do I get it out? Thanks for all the replys guys and gals...Been most helpfull.. B)

  9. I will try getting new radiator caps tommorrow , but I never understoode how that can make cars overheat..As for a pin hole in the Resovor , I checked already and there is none..I am just so confused as to what is making my car spit out radiator fluid when it is turned off ...Could maybe the mechanic left air in the system, becouse after the flush and new hoses you could hear the fluid bubbling in the dashboard in the heater core ..Thanks for the replys so far...Also I DO NOT have any white smoke , so my heads should be fine and it is not a constint overheating...temp just rises after losing flood in the system and i pretty much fill it back up soon as my temp goes a little over half..thats when I kno i am low..AS I had said earlier the Car is extreamly Well maintained..I dont kno why it is doing this now..Also would like to note there is not leaks in the power steering system...Fan operation is excellant...

  10. I have a 1992 es300 with 170,000 miles on it..The car is well mantained ..I recently replaced all the radiator hoses and had the system flushed..I had a new pump and therm. put in when i had the timing belt done about 25,000 miles ago..My car is recently overheating...not bad tho..the gauge reads 3/4 .normally it would stay at 1/2 . I let the car cool down and find it is somewhat low on fluid ..I add some and it runs normal for a few weeks..recently I have noticed it has been spitting the antifreeze out the resovor once you have turned the car off ..I am not sure why this is doing it..That is apperently where my fliud was going...I check and so has a mechanic and there is no leaks anywhere..My question is why is it when I turn the car off after driving , fliud is spitting out of the resovor?Did I over fill the Car? Or is it a more serious promblem..Can I damage my engine letting the temp go to 3/4? The fan is running the way it should...recently had the power steering filter changed and flushed ...So I no its not that fan..Could my water pump went bad that fast?Any help would be greatly appreciated :whistles:

  11. hey.. I am haveing the same truoble now...It didnt do it Till I had the car serviced about a month ago for 1800+ at a lexus dealership.I have not had time to take the vehicle back .. I will go to my mechanic who I trust..I think it is the motor mounts are going bad ..I mean I have 156,000 mile's on it..When the car was serviced I had a new timming blet..water pump..and a new pully put on ...I had made a post about a noise it started making after i got the car back , I was told from someone it just might be the belts are to tight...I really hope the lexus dealership put the timming belt in right becouse of the cost , I would be highly pis***.

But I am going to go this week and I hope it is nothing serious I am running out of money fast...I just never new replacing a timming belt was so exspenisive...

  12. Hey guys and gals...I just had my car serviced at a lexus dealership...I had a new timming belt, water pump t-stat and a pully replaced...None of these things was back except the pully..I got my car serviced about 2 weeks ago and have been driving it sence..I have noticed a noise ..The noise sounds like it might be comming from a pully..When I come to a stop I also feel it palsating in the brake pedal...It only does it when the A/C is on..I turn the A/C of you dont hear the noise as bad and you dont feel it in the brake pedal either..Should I be worried maybe my timming belt was not put in right? or is it becouse of a new pully? I just spent a lot of money to have this car serviced at a lexus dealership and I dont want my engine destroyed...They said they drove test the vehicle after sevising it and everything is fine..any help would be appreciated.. :whistles:

  13. I have just noticed some noise my lexus makes when the A/C is on.. It is like rattiling noise and I also fill it in the brakes when i am stopped...Before i had the car serveced less than a couple weeks back it did not do it...They replaced a pully @ the cost of 400+ when it was serviced and it was done at a lexus dealership...Could maybe they have gotten my timing belt on wrong? God I hope not as much money as I just paid them..Another thing My car went in with the under gaurd that protects the bottom of the engine and when I got it back from the lexus dealership it was gone..I called them the other day and they told me i never had one...But hello , I change my oil every 3000 miles and i know i had a bottom gaurd ..So what happen to it?Did they still it?lol Do I need to worry about having the guard????

  14. Hey Everyone,

I seen a 1990 es250 @ a local dealer and was curious so I stopped. They are asking 5,900 for it..It has 135,000.The car is in excellent shape and and has all sevice records...The dealer is even offering a warrenty. I was just wondering if this is a good buy..Is there any major promblems known for the 250's ..I also noticed the instrument panel is not like my es 300 which has the red needles. It does have the leather and airbag..The car seems to have been well mantained..Any thoughts would be appreciated... :whistles:
