All the lexus's i have ever owned had the transmission filter , But lexus calls them something else and I forget what they call them .

I believe your mechanic is mistaken , as all es300's have the cabin filter , not saying there was one installed during assembly .

Dont Feel Bad , About a 2 years ago , a groundhog decided to go on a eating spree on my lexus and a new Colbolt (didnt even have 300 miles on it). The insurance Co. Replaced the wiring Harness in the Colbolt . It got to a bit of wires , and unfortunately you just cant replace the bad wires . They had to replace the whole main wiring . As for the Lexus , Had my mechanic splice the wires as it would Cos to much for a wire harness and didnt want to put in 2 claims with the insurance co. If your GF has Full Coverage , As many wires as you have chewed , I would put in a Claim because your repair will not be Cheap. Thank goodness the ground hog only liked the pwersteering wire and altenator wire on the Lexus.

My 97 Also Does the same thing.

If your Charcol canister is bad , lexus has to replace it for free. Just had mine replaced about a month ago for free. The emmision warrenty is 10 years and 150,000 miles. I was getting the same code as you have .

Ok , sounds like it should take only 4 quarts to fill..What happens when u over fill it?

I was searching the forums and cant seem to find the information I need.. My questions is how many quarts of transmission fluid does my transmision ( 1997 ES ) take when it comes to a drain and fill or pan removal? The last few times I have had my car serviced at my mechanics , He had put in a total of 5 quarts each time for a drain and fill.. :whistles:

Most of the owners manuals I have read , state that the seat belts and components are warrantied for life.

I know there was a Recall for the Brake booster Hose on that year.

If it is your Charcol Canister , It is still under warrenty With Lexus for 14 years or 150,000 miles from date of manufactor. I just had mine replaced for free 2 weeks ago , was getting a Check engine and trac light. Dont let them Bull Sh*t you about not being under warrenty. There Was a law suit filed with toyota over this and they have to replace them at no cost.

I Am curious To as how the Back ligting is being Lit on the Cluster Unit? I kno on my previous Es ( older generation ) They took Bulbs.. Someone had told me there is no bulbs.. If thats the case , Does the Back lighting Ever Burn out?

Any thoughts>? I pulled the ECU fuse and it didnt reset the light ..I have not done it right..

So to Clean the IACV , I remove those two screws that look like its Holding on a Small Box of somesort ? If thats it , Do I spray Carb Cleaner on it Directly or inside it? Thanks

Ok , Got this Code ..po440 ... Mechanic found gas cap was not on correctly .. Cleared The Code...Check Engine light came back on again after 50 miles. Re-Read Code , Still Comming up the same ..po440 . I have been Fueling the Car "Over full " All this time ..I didnt relieze it would have caused Promblems with the emmisions doing this Untill reading other posts about this code. My Question is , Did I destroy the Charcol Canister because the code came back after being cleared? Can I just pull ECU Fuse and reset the system or will the Check engine light come back on? I called Lexus Today and they Want $300 just for the Canister..

I think it would be a waste of money to have it checked for sludge...I will Just change the oil Every 1,500 miles. What Exactly Does sludge do to a Engine anways?

I just recently purches a 1997 Es300 With 123,000 miles on her...The car looks Imaculant ..Timming belt was done at 80,000miles. I have been use to the 92 series and I am not to fimilar with this generation. I have searched the forums and seen there is a promblem with engine sludge. Unfortantly I dont have the maintance records for oil changes.I Had my mechanic put oil cleaner through the engine and plan on changing the oil Every 1,500 miles for the next 10 oil changes. My Question is if there is sludge in there , would this process help clean it out??????The Engine purrrs like a kitten , No abvious signs of mechanical failure.

Another Question is, if the backlighting in the cluster unit should fail , is it servicable ? Meaning is there bulbs that can be replaced ?

So how is one to go about fixing this promblem? Trans flush?

I have a question about the shiffting pattern on my 1992 lexus es 300.. Sometimes when the gears are changing , they feel like the slip into the next gear , or like its a slow shift into the next gear ..hard to descibe. But is this normal for the trans to shift like this ? I dont remeber if my previous lexus shiftted like that..The screen and fluids are new and upto date. Mounts are new .

The car has 153,000 miles

I kno this is a older post , but i recently sent my cluster unit out to be fixed and Now the car is idleing ruff . I assume this is normal for the car to do this till the Cluster unit is re-installed?

The miss is gone . Drives 100%.
