  1. As a owner of an 05 GX and a Lexus master tech, here is the unoffical word that I have gotten from the tech department---a revised rear driveshaft is still under development---I have worked on GX's 03-05 experiencing the clunk, and yes mine does it too---the problem lies with the slip yoke on the end of the driveshaft (end of the shaft slides in/out on splines)---the clunk comes from the splines that are machined onto the main part of the shaft and the yoke sticks as is slides---has to be at the right height to make it happen---first there was a service bulletin with an updated shaft---still makes noise with new shaft--then there is an un-offical field fix that involved cleaning/smoothing out the splines--50/50 chance if it worked---as of right now, when a GX comes in with a clunk complaint---we submit VIN and customer info to Lexus tech center and they are building a case for correction---still have yet to see new "updated" shaft (2nd time), but i will keep everyone posted--I have access to all Lexus service bulletins if needed (Lexus service bulletins are public type documents---there was some lawsuit that made it illegal to keep service bulletins from the public eye--if you go to a Lexus dealer and ask for a copy of a bulletin, they should give it to you hope this helps answer some questions Jason :P
  2. I am new here--I have an 05 GX and mine is quiet too--I am a Lexus master tech here and have found a few GX's complaining of excess wind noise--make sure the roof rack cross bars are properly aligned--when they come in new and I do pre-delivery preps to them, you have to install roof rack cross bars and rear end covers (left off from factory to prevent damage when loaded on transport truck)--on the inside track of each rail (long part on either side of roof) the factory places a center punch mark with a white painted dot to align the front of crossbar to--these are located 2 on each side on the INSIDE of track (kinda hard to see) on located towards front and other towards rear--if the crossbars arent aligned, i have found that they make a wind/buffer type noise comming from roof area (esp. when sunshade is open)--make sure that whoever did pre-delivery prep installed/aligned them correctly (and by the way, i have seen them installed backwards, also causing noise)--they have arrows on topside left&right of crossbars--install pointing towards front of vehicle--i have spent hours trying to locate wind noises on GX's and found that tech installed/aligned incorrectly when prepping--hope this info helps--email for with more quest.---thanks
  3. have Lexus dealer check service bulletin EL009-05 refering to a/c magnetic clutch relay failure/sticking--should be covered under warranty 4yr/50k miles--applied to ES (02-04) and GX (03-04)--usually causes A/c light to flash indicating A/C compressor trying to come on but cant because of faulty relay--an updated relay is avail to fix condition---I am a Lexus master tech here in ATL and you can email me if you have any further quest.--hope this helps
