  1. What happens if you try to dial the phone via the keypad? ← If you dial through the phone keypad, the call goes through, you can hear the dialing sound through the car, the responding voice comes through the car, you can do the rest of the phone conversation through the car (hands-free, etc.) and you can disconnect by pushin the "phone-off" little button on the steering wheel (next to the "phone-on" button). In other words, you can dial any number through your phone. As long it is Bluetooth paired with your car, your car phone system takes over. Really great! P.S. I have a Samsung i730 (Verizon).
  2. This was my second drive from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin in three months, with heavy snow coming around lake Erie in both instances. The car never slipped once, was engaged on the snowy surface of the interstate, kept steady. Of all the cars I have had, this is the one with the best snow performance. Incidentally, I had a Prius 05 before this one, and I had to trade it in for the 400h because of the poor performance on snow and the well reported traction control (the car goes dead..) problems with the Prius.
  3. My Samsung i730 (Verizon) has established a stabled paired connection with the 400h. However, I never tried to transfer the whole phone book, hearing complaints similar to what you described from other users, with this car and the Prius. I have assigned numbers to the 17 keys available on the screen and these cover about 99% of my calls. For making any other call, I dial through the phone and the car phone picks up. From the Prius literature, I remember that Outlook adds parentheses in numbers (around the area code) and this interferes with transferal of the phone book. Some of the contributors there had tried assigning the "country" to Estonia, and somehow that took care of their problem. Good Luck!
  4. That sounds like a much better setup. I wonder if anybody who does not have an integrated device has been able to make the suction cup supplied from Sirius stick to the Lexus dashboard, given the curvature issues etc.
  5. I have mine (Sirius Sat) right next to my rear-view mirror. No interference with the rain-sensing wipers. Longo Lexus of Los Angeles installs Sirius in all of their cars for free, so they have tons of experience enabling Sirius on Lexuses. The RX400h next-to-rear-view-mirror install looks pretty good (out of way), and reception is great. Where is the radio itself situated? On the dashboard? If so, how do you avoid having a hanging cable from the rear view mirror to the dashboard? I have kept everything on the dashboard to avoid that kind of problem. Also, the suction cup never worked. The radio kept falling down. I finally mounted the radio on the dashboard with sticky Velcro, hid all the cables (except the absolutely necessary connecting power cable and antenna cable) in a black leather box, and put that on the dashboard as well, Not very elegant, but it works like a charm.... sort of.
  6. I have mine in the middle of the dashboard, equal distance from both mirrors, and it works great. It comes across very clearly.
  7. This maybe old knowledge to most of you, but for those who may not be aware of it: I was deterred from getting a satellite radio for a long time because I did not want to have the antenna cables threaded through door seals, etc. and the idea of another antenna stuck on the roof with a magnet or glued and going through a carwash etc. was more than I was willing to put up with. As I was looking at the latest Sirius and was talking to the store clerk, he pointed out that the antenna would do fine staying inside the car, on the dashboard, as long as it could "see" sky through the windshield glass. It worked perfectly! I had my satellite radio up and running in 15 minutes! Having done that, I am really enjoying it. I assume this would work for all the commercial satellite radios (Xm, Sirius, etc.) though I have only done it with Sirius.
  8. Will both mirrors tilt when the switch is left either left or right, or just the mirror defined by the switch?
  9. After driving my 400h for a month, I realized that the rear view through the camera on the screen covers only about 3/5 of the rear bumper, from the LEXUS sign in the middle of the bumper and all the way to the left (driver's side). Is this the way it is supposed to be? Do others have the same experience? Is the camera adjustable to be made to cover the view of the entire rear bumper? Thanks for any input! GKM
  10. After 2000 miles and some driving on snowy interstates, I can emphatically say that he 400h is highly reliable in winter, has great mileage (I cannot think of a 6 cylinder SUV that even comes close!) and it should be fun to drive in the summer. Navigation package is first rate. Overall, I would definitely buy it again.
  11. Since we both live in the 'Burgh, I made it to work today (rather warm day, high around 50) with 31 mpg, came back with 26 mpg . GKM
  12. I finally figure it out........in retrospect, it was rather obvious. Thanks for your patience! GKM
  13. Which "arm" are you refering to? The cupholders in the middle front console do not appear to have any "arm". GKM
  14. Just for the record, I forgot to mention that I have been using just the OEM standard tires that came with the car. GKM
