  1. Happy to be here. I own a 1999 RX 300 AWD- we bought it used in 2002 with 42K miles on it, now it's nearing 92K. Last week it was ideling badly and very unsteady. Took it to the dealer and $1,300 later had (according to the dealer) the igniton coils replaced, all new spark plus, and the engine compartment cleaned out and new valve installed. End of last week the check engine light went on again, took to the dealer again and two days later they proposes all the o2 sensors replaced for $1,700 :cries: . I didn't have them do it... Later I found out I could buy the 3 O2 sensors myself and pay a garage to replace them for me for about 1/3 the cost of the dealer. Given the car's age and mileage, should I worry about other sensors and components needing replacement? The dealer gave me a list- water pump, timing belt, service etc... Many thanks in advance for the long winded question!
  2. Thanks for your reply- I'm new to this site so can you help me with searching under the threads- show I just use the search button?
  3. We own a 1999 RX 300. We are the second owners of a former lease vehicle. When we bought it it had 42K now it's approaching 75K miles. We just had an oil change, and oil changer was sloppy and spilled a bit of oil and it's been burning off as we drive. Now the check engine light comes on, which is puzzling since we just had a 65K service done by a toyota dealer. The car runs fine except it knocks a little bit during hard acceleration. Can anyone give us some clues of what may be happening? Does that light just come on when a service interval is approaching or should we get it checked again?
