Can I Blow My Car Up Yet? Tranny Problems On My 400

You don't need a new tranny. The very samething happened to my car. I had my mechanic (Not lexus) replace my third gear solenoid for $500. Solved the problem and running like new. -

I had the same issue. I went to try the funnel fix and found my coolant level low. Filled it up and problem went away. -
Just called autozone. They can do it. Any year after 96 is what they told me. Hopefully it's not to costly. I'm still curious if this has happened to anyone else.

The check engine light is on. The manual shift won't work. It only blinks 'M' with no gear reading and shifts rough when in auto mode. Anybody else experience this type of problem?

The search feature is really worthless. Anyhow, is lexus the only place to do a diagnostic test, or can other places do them for less money? I believe awhile back my mechanic said only lexus can do them, but maybe he meant something different. Lexus wants $100 to do it. Thanks for any help.

I had the samething happen to my gs about 2 months ago. It stopped doing this and haven't seen again. I'd be curious to see what the tech. finds out for you. Let me know what you find out in case I have it happen again. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

OK. It's back to normal for some reason.

Did a search and didn't fing a whole lot. Before I have a code read, has anyone had this happen before? Is it a simple non-expensive solution? Just like to arm myself with a little info. before I start looking into this. The vsc light won't shut off when the button is pushed. I'm guessing a bad sensor. Thanks for any help.

Got in my new to me 98 GS400, turned the key and the steering wheel did not adjust to my settings. I could get it to move in and out but not up or down. Kind of bummed me out for awhile, but I kept trying to adjust it and finally it adjusted with some hesitation. Has anybody experienced this problem before? Hate to have a problem already, but I do love this car. I looked into a BMW 540i and choose this car over it with no regrets whatsoever. Thanks for any help.
