  1. Just bought a 2002 GS300 with Navigation System. The system will not find this particular location. It will not give me the correct city to choose from.

Can someone please put this address into their system and see if it comes up correctly?

    2185 Salem Rd

    Conyers, GA 30013

Once Salem Rd is entered it will not give me a Conyers, Georgia city choice. I don't like that you don't have an option to enter the city manually.

Is this a Lexus DVD problem or just a problem with my particular car?

The map in you car is probably way out of date! Its probably Version 2.1 or even 1.0! My Version 8.1 has the address listed as 2185 Salem Rd SE, Conyers, GA.

Pick up the new DVD (Version 10.1) at your local Lexus dealership. Part number PT219-GEN23-10... won't be available until October 1st.

  2. What is best way for me to upgrade software on my Navigation and how can I tell what version I currently have?

    thx

The new DVD updates are coming in October for V10.1.

For an 05MY GX470 you will need part number PT219-GEN04-10.

Pick it up from your local Lexus dealership for $199.

Note - You will have to either eject the old map disc to see the version number (probably V4.1) or check via the touch screen.

  3. I took the car to the lexus dealer today and found out that lexus service department are piece of crap. They want to check the problem starting with the fuse. They replaced perfectly good radio fuse and saw some aftermarket wire for an aftermarket amp. They said they have to remove the wires and remove all the stuff out(labor) so it'll take 4 hours to diagnose. I already gutted the interior out though....so what do they have to remove? What the hell do those loose after market wire have to do anything with my GPS system? they were never connected in the first place.

Anyways, they want $500 and something dollars to check it out, to tell me what's wrong with it.

$125 Dollars to change my god damn fuse... and tell me that it'll cost $500 more dollars to ONLY tell me what's wrong with it...

The TX+ color is PINK and TX- is YELLOW. With that info you must use a multi-meter (or ohm meter) to see if the resistor inside the AM/FM RADIO reads 75 ohms of resistance. If the factory radio does not read 75 ohms of resistance NOTHING will work properly.

  4. Hello to all,

I am in the process of changing what i can on my ES 350 UL, the audio seems to be the place to start. I have a set of Infinity Perfect Kappa component that i want to install in the doors of the ES as replacement of the 6x9 (of course new support will be added) and the new tweeters can go to the oem tweeters placement. This is what i have : http://www.productwiki.com/infinity-kappa-perfect-5-1/

I know that the factory amp is weak, but i've heard that the Infinity component can handle low wattage. So, what would be the best way to install it ?

    a) simply replace the speakers alone with the new one

    B) replace speakers and tweeters, but i have the crossovers that comes with it and i don't know the wiring to the factory amp to put into

    c) unplug the oem speakers and tweeters and install my component with an aftermarket amp (which i have) separately.

I know a little bit about audio since i've installed some in my old car, but i'm not an expert.

As per the OEM sub, i have a pretty good idea how to do it: remove the oem sub, install a RCA adaptor to the speakers wires and extend to the new sub amp and sub, of course, battery power line must be added.

thank you in advance for your inputs.

Depending upon the sound system (Mark Levinson for example) will have a dedicated channel for each loud speaker. If this is the case (as is for navigation equipped vehicles) then each speaker has its own dedicated channel.

However, for base audio systems without any premium audio (standard AM/FM/CD in the dash) you simply wire up your crossover with the 'in' from the factory wires, and out of the Infinity crossover to the respective speaker (mid-bass and tweeter).

Lastly, the audio output of the headunit for all older Lexus and Toyota vehicles is left+ left- and right+ right-. Thus if you take out your amplifier (if equipped) you will lose the ability to fade front to rear. The AVC-LAN instructs how to distribute the sound front to rear via the TX+ and TX- (communication) wires. New Lexus vehicles like the 2010 RX350 have changed to a MOST network which will make changes (besides loudspeakers) nearly impossible.

  5. HELP

I bought a new 2008 IS F last month with the Mark Levinson audio system and a dealer installed satellite radio receiver. The sound quality is terrible! It reminds me of a 1950's single speaker car radio. I would estimate that 70% to 80% of the sound is coming from the large middle speaker on top of the dash. The only way I can change this dominance is to adjust the front to rear control all the way to the rear - then it sounds like you are sitting at the end of a tunnel. I have tried every conceivable adjustment to no avail and it does not make much of a difference if I switch to CD's instead of XM. I am frustrated to the point I have the audio system turned off.

The best way to describe the sound is "tinny".

Is this common with the Mark Levinson audio system?

If not, could the dealer have screwed it up installing the satellite radio?

Am I missing something? The sales rep at the dealer just acknowledged my dissatisfaction but did not offer ant help or advice. Similar reaction from their service department.

I would really appreciate any feedback. I intend to contact Lexis Customer Satisfaction later this week.

    Thanks,

    Mikey, Mikey, Mikey

Just 1 note..... any music coming from a compressed audio source (MP3 or satellite radio) will sound bad in comparison to CD playback. CD and FM should sound good in comparison to satellite radio.

They may say 'digital quality' but it is compressed none the less.

  6. Okay, so i tried to install an aftermarket radio and I don't know what i did but all of a sudden my GSP won't let me touch it anymore, it'll only stay on that agreement screen ... When i turn on the car I get a, "Audio Off" Message. I can't press, Climate, Menu, Audio, Map, Destination, the only thing that i can press are the upper buttons, which is, Auto, Off, Defrost, etc. I read on the forums that it was the amplifier's fault, because they said it "controls" most of the gps functions. I did however managed to install the after market radio by using the speaker harness. The screens stills stays on. Have any of you guys ever had the GSP problem like mines? if so, PLEASE HELP!

The factory radio has a 75 ohm resistor in it... its considered the 'master component' in the system... not the amplifier.

Without this 75 ohm resistor in the network nothing will work normally.

Navguy, Please explain, I am interested in your response.

If you get an electronic wiring diagram (EWD) you will find two wires that go into the radio (along with other componenets) that are labeled TX+ and TX-. When you removed the radio (master) you took the 75 ohm resistor out of the network. So if you install a 75 ohm resistor (across the TX+ and TX-) in the appropriate pins the rest of the stuff should work.

  7. can a lexus w/o factory nav have a lexus nav installed?

will it work? or am i wasting time trying to find one? i have a 2007 ES350

fly audio has on but its $2k. or should i just stick to my magellan? please help with any advice

The cost would be prohibitive since it involves a different amplifier, cables, touch screen, etc.

  8. Anyone have suggestions where I should buy this NAV update from? I've seen copies on EBAY etc... I've also seen copies of that can be downloaded, but not sure I should fiddle with that. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Pick up a brand new version V9.1 from any Toyota (86271-GEN04-09) or Lexus (PT219-GEN04-09) dealer for $199; reduced from $265.

Then you don't have to worry if the crap on ebay is legit.

Your navigation computer is in the trunk.. I think on the right side. It's a little hard to get to it so read the owners manual carefully and be sure to eject the old disc first!

  10. I have a 2007 LS460 L with a partially cracked touch screen. Lexus wants $2300+ to exchange the unit, and a non-Lexus touch panel (overlay) can be purchased for around $40. However, I need to know if the original touch panel has a 4 wire lead or a 5 wire lead.

I would appreciate a response if anyone knows which touch panel would be correct. Also, if anyone knows someone in Wisconsin that could replace the overlay, I would like that information too.

This is the link to the vendor that I plan to get the touch panel from. (CAUTION- I don't know yet whether or not it will work.)

I apologize for putting this in the forums twice, but I believe I put it in the incorrect forum the first time.

    Thanks for any help.

    Orthrwi

Contact Fujitsu Ten in California, provide part number and ask them if they will repair for you. If they can (or will) you will not be able to drive your car in the meantime.

  11. Just wondering if anybody has installed factory navi unit into a gs300 non navi without having to replaced the complete dash harness..

I can't seem to find any help on this or a how to thread..

Almost impossible since the vehicle harness (without navigation) is missing so many inputs/outputs/parts:

    Speed Pulse

    Microphone

    Parking Break

    Different amplifier

    GPS antenna

    Navigation computer

    Navigation monitor

    Steering wheel controls for voice

    Go aftermarket... much easier.

  12. I just acquired an 04 330rx that has the original nav system which says it is 3.1 to upgrade it as i use the nav system a lot for work. I know that i can get it done at the dealership for 270 or get a disk from dealer for 199.

What i don't know is the following.

    1. Will the newest disk just work on this nav system, or are there other upgrades i would need to make before it would work.

    2. How difficult is the setup on the disk. If it takes an hour to program, or is complex, I would probably let the dealer do it. If its like installing average software on a computer, ill keep the 70 bucks and take the family out for burgers.

    3. How big of an upgrade will this be??? Will the new disk simply provide new maps or can i expect better graphics, improved usability, more choices, etc. etc.?????

    4. Is there an alternative that i should explore, like replacing the entire unit, replacing the nav/ audio together. (i want to upgrade that also)????

Thanks for any advice that anybody can provide.

The new DVD V9.1 is available for $199. The only items updated is the mapping information (roads, streets, business info, etc.). You wont find any changes to the operating system.

The new disc, in comparison to your V3.1, is quite different. Thats over 6 years of changes!

Lastly, the installation is easy. It will only take 2 minutes to update after you install the new disc. The navigation computer is in the back near the spare tire. Simply slide the cover over the button and press for 2 seconds. The old disc will eject automatically. DO NOT insert the new disc first or you will damage it.

As far as the stereo is concerned you will be spending a ton to replace the radio, monitor, amplifier etc. Your climate control goes through the monitor in the dash too. I would suggest that you only replace the speakers, or amp and speakers.

  13. Good Evening.

I'm a happy owner of a shiny new 2010 HS250H and in trying to set voice tags, I've come across a peculiar problem.

When I go to set a new one, I'm brought to the contact list. I choose a person and their information comes up. However, there doesn't appear to be a way to choose which number is associated with that voice tag. I have three numbers for my wife (home, work, mobile). If I record "Mary", how do I make sure it chooses her mobile number over the other two?

I worry that the answer should be obvious, but if anyone can control their laughing, I would appreciate mightily any advice or instruction.

    Thanks.

If you phone supports the phone book access profile (PBAP ) you dont have to record a voice tag like the old GEN5 system. To use the system say the name as you have programmed it into your phone.

  14. My wife and I just purchased a 2007 RX350 AWD with a navigation system that is reporting the following:

"A program could not be found"

    "Please consult to a dealer"

All other aspects of the computer work fine (Climate/Audio/Trip).

I was told by the dealer I bought the vehicle from (Acura dealer, not lexus) that all I needed was to go to the dealer and get the software updated. I am hoping that it isn't a major issue (vehicle is still under factory warrenty, but I doubt this would be covered) and it is just going to be an update, but I am having second thoughts and I am a little concerned.

Has anyone seen this message before that can tell me what it means and how to fix it?

    Thank you in advance

    Wildcat

The wrong DVD map disc has been installed. Lucky for you the price just dropped to $199 from $265. Get Lexus part number PT21-GEN05-09. The part number on the DVD map disc must be 86271-5302X(the X is a placeholder)... so if the disc in the navigation ECU doesn't match then its just a wrong map disc.

  15. I need the latest NAV upgrade for my just purchased 2002 LX470. Ebay is bad, and dealerships are very expensive. What do you recommend? Any deals out there that work?

The new DVD map disc are available for $199 from Lexus or Toyota dealers. You either need 86271-GEN23-09 (Toyota) or PT219-GEN23-09 for Lexus. Both will be available on October 1st.

If you do buy anything of eBay the part number on the DVD map disc must be 86271-3303X. The higher the last digit (X) the newer the disc. The new map disc part number will be 86271-33038.

  16. My 2002 SC430 has the original navigation DVD which does not show a large number of streets in my area. The dealer wants $500 for the new DVD. Is there any cheaper way to get this? The car is still under warranty and I am the original owner. Thanks for any help.

 I also have a 2002 SC430 that is badly in need of a nav update - - but I get mixed reports about the 02 year and updates -- most state that LEXUS PT219-GEN23-08 is the update - but some add a warning that it is not recommended for the 2002 ?!!!

I sure would like to get a disk at a reasonable price since the dealers charge in excess of $250 - - heck my Garmin NUVI is more modern and more accurate - but I want to use the build in NAV as long as it's in the car.

ANY help will be greatly appreciated - PMquickclick@gmail.com = FASTFINGER

FYI - I just got an email from my Lexus dealer saying the MSRP is $199 until the end of June for V8.1.

  17. I just updated my 2001 LS430 Navigation to version 8.1 and just can't believe how little has changed. Specifically, back in 2001 we were just building our house. We built on an orphan lot within the city limits that was finished at the end of 2002 . I expected that 7 years later and who knows how many updates later that my address would be on the map but nooooooooo!

I'm sure that there are a lot of updates that have occurred over the years but I was expecting just a little bit more. Next time I think I'll go to the showroom and play with the latest database before "assuming" anything.

Call Lexus customer care and have them capture the address that is missing. They will report it to the map suppliers... NAVTEQ or TeleAtlas. Or you could report it to NAVTEQ directly. The link is:

    http://mapreporter.navteq.com/dur-web-exte...amp;language=en

Thanks Navguy. I just did submit our address for inclusion in the database.

Funny thing is that I thought that's why we spend the big bucks with these mapping companies to continuously monitor road, commercial and residential changes using their staff and resources. Why else would I spend hundred$ of dollar$ for a DVD? I really don't think it should be up to individuals to proactively find the mapping companies and submit information instead the mapping companies should interactively work with city, county, state and federal public records to cull this information from planning, zoning and building permit records to update their databases. Now that would be "earning" their money!

    Very, very true.

  18. Yes, you can remove update the navigation system by removing the original disc, and inserting the new disc. This will update the software on the nav, and then you're set to run off the new map data. The drive is located in the lower right hand side of the trunk.

Alright thanks man. Where and what disc should I buy for it? In other words, what is the newest version of software for it?

    2004 RX 330

86271-3303X (on the disc - the higher the last digit the higher the version)

V8.1 is the most current disc available and was released in November of 2008.

You can acquire this GEN23 map disc from a Toyota or Lexus dealership.

Dealers are free to set their own pricing so shop around.

I'm looking around for GEN23 map disc for 2004 rx330, but everything I'm reading says 2004 rx330 is a Gen 2/3 design and v8.1 wont work with Gen 2/3 system. Is this incorrect? What IS the latest version I can get for Gen 2/3 system for 2004 RX330? thx.

Hey, Lexus is offering V8.1 for $199 MSRP! Just got an email from my dealer. The part number you need is PT219-GEN23-08

  19. I just updated my 2001 LS430 Navigation to version 8.1 and just can't believe how little has changed. Specifically, back in 2001 we were just building our house. 20. Hello all,

I have been trying to upgrade my ver 2.1.... I was told that there is a pretty big difference between 6.1 and 7.1? I didnt really want to pay $250 for the new 8.1. Does anyone know where I can get a ver 7.1 at a fair price?

    Thanks!

    Go to http://btjunkie.org/

and search for a Toyota or Lexus generation 3, data 7.1 Nav DVD image file copy. (iso format) Download the file with a bit torrent.

Then you need image burning software on your PC and a DVD drive that can write to dual layer DVD's. Today, I found a data 6.1 is on that web site. That should be much better than what you now have. A word of caution: Once you successfully upgrade from the oldest data version, the 2002 disk will not longer work because the ROM was upgraded and you will have to use a data generation of probably 3.1 or higher. Originals of those probably can be found on Ebay for around 50 bucks. Still better than what you have now.

Be prepared for some difficulty as not all copies will work. The 7.1 data version I downloaded works perfectly in my 02 SC430, but doesn't work in my 01 LS430. I have a data version 5.1 original DVD disk in that car, also generation 3. Data version 7.1 is better than 5.1, but I can live with 5.1.

My 03 ls430 was wrecked and I'm getting an 06, so I have a 7.1 dvd for sale. It's on the for sale forum or pm me if interested.

FYI - I just got an email from Lexus offering version 8.1 for an MSRP of $199. Did anyone else get this summer promotion?

  21. I searched but could not find out how to upgrade my Gs from 5.1 to 7.1 so thats my question. I put the 7.1 in and the nav says searching disc or something like that. Where can I get the info to do this upgrade?

    Thanks

Your map disc must be 86271-3304X... the higher the last digit the better. If the new disc you bought is anything but -3304X then it will not work.

  22. Is there any way to input music from my phone mp3 player thru audio system? It will accept bluetooth hands free calling but not stereo music tracks.

Bluetooth stereo or A2DP is available on the 2010 RX and Toyota Venza - soon on the Avalon and Prius too. This will allow you to listen to the music on your phone over the stereo in the vehicle (without cables).

Make sure the cellphone is A2DP compatible as well.

  23. Hi! I just bought my car couple months ago, and I really like it. I wanted to put aftermarket DVD n NAVI to my car, but some research, I found out that aftermarket screens doesn't really look good on my car, and I like OEM feel. I am wondering if it is possible to hook up a 2002 GS430 nav system to my 2001 GS430 with Mark Levinson audio? What do I need?

    another question:

Does the gen2 gs w/ navigation option come with mark levinson audio or just regular lexus premium?and how can I tell?

I did some research and I know I need navi screen w/ climate control, nav computer (trunk), antenna, and maybe cd changer? what else? custom harness? or can I buy the nav harness from lexus?

I tried to do some research, but couldn't find a clear answer. I found gs400 non-nav to nav conversion, but not 01 ml audio to nav conversion.

    Thanks in advance

I would venture to say that adding the system from another year would be nearly impossible. There are so many factory harnesses that have to be purchased it would be so much cheaper to go aftermarket. Sorry.

    2004 RX 330
