  1. got looking at the rear suspension today, more damage than i had thought, i bought a new RR upper a-arm and a right axle shaft, but the...axle..cup? that is on the diff, is missing on mine... does that pop out or do you have to remove the 8 bolts around the piece behind it? some other pieces seem bent in the RR suspension there in an odd manner (twisted), not near the diff but where the spindle connected..but i want to get the diff figured out first.
  2. Hey all. i had a '92 sc400 awhile back and sold it, but i missed it so i got a 93 sc400 today. as you can see, it needs a left headlight, left fender, bumper, and hood... (anyone have em for sale in phoenix area?), i am looking for those parts if anyone has em for sale or knows where to look for a reasonable price.. i got the car for 1150$ with the tow and everything, has 160k miles, runs Great, no rips in the leather, seems like it'll be a really nice car once i get it all fixed up though....
  3. if your egr is stuck open at any idle it'll run bad, or stall. you sound like you're about 16.... and yeah you sure are a technician and your spelling is excellant too? i was asking for help, but your comments most def. did not help.
  4. skperformance, please go research the egr before spouting off about it, you apparently take your car to the dealer as was suggested to me, which sounds like the best idea for you. a sticking egr Will in fact cause the car to stall out at idle or be hard to start.
  5. sorry should have updated, especially for rakman, clean your egr. i took my throttle boddy off and cleaned it fully, cleaned the egr, had 0 stalls outs since, have had a couple hard starts (egr still sticking probably), but no stalls since. only took me about 2 hours to do it, replace all the hoses while you're there to, just so it's done.
  6. wow you're helpfull. if i wanted to take it to the dealer and waste my money, i would have done so already.
  7. check engine light is still on, haven't ran the codes yet, i just cleaned the egr yesterday and then put about 100 miles on it with no stalls, it was getting REALLY bad as of friday, stalling at almost every light....todays goal is to run the codes again, see what the problems are and get that light shut off...
  8. ended up being a clogged egr valve, i cleaned about 1/8lb of carbon out of there....!! no stalls in 40 miles so far.
  9. i looked in to that aswell, doesn't seem to be the fp ecu. i'm going to pull the egr valve and clean it tomorrow.
  10. but if that were the case, it would happen all the time, 90% of the time it runs perfect.... i was sort of thinking maybe the egr is sticking or something of that sort? anyone agree?
  11. i have a 92 sc400, just got it on sunday so i don't know much about it at this point, i have tomorrow off so i need to figure it out then. heres the problem.. the car will run PERFECT all day, but then Randomly (100% random), maybe at a stop light, or after you shut the car off and try to restart it, or maybe stopping to put it in reverse, it'll stall out and it'll take a Lot of cranking but it'll start back up, and run Horrible, always starts back up and either runs perfect like nothing happened, or it'll sputter and run like crap then die, start it back up, will either run like crap again or run perfect, once it runs perfect again, no problems! till the random stall comes again, could be 20 miles, could be the next day.... any ideas? it also gives out a exhaust smelling of rotten eggs occasionally when i restart it (cats?) i read the other topics and realize it could be the fuel pump ecu but i'm hoping it's something cheaper/easier to find locally or something i can fix myself. i have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the throttle body and air filter but it still happens, might happen in 2 miles, might happen in 20 miles... once it happens, the car also smokes out the exhaust and runs horribly, then it'll rev up to 2000rpm and sit there for a bit and smoke some, then it'll run perfect, i ran the check engine light codes and got a tp sensor, ks signal, and sub o2 sensor codes. any ideas would be nice, this thing is driving me nuts, but i don't want to just toss money at it.
  12. sorry if this is a dumb question, i looked around and couldn't find, where is the IAC located? i assume it's the longer round solenoid on the throttle body (right one)? my car randomly runs horribly, doesn't idle, stalls, will idle very horribly, then suddenly will just act like nothing happen, then randomly will happen again...
  13. well i changed the fuel filter, and ran a bottle of seafoam through it, ran great for a bit, but then just started doing the same old stalling out routine, getting REALLY old.....any input other than cleaning the TB?
  14. 1992 lexus sc 400 i'm the 3rd owner, 1st owner didn't take good care of the interior at all, drivers seat and rear seat bottoms are just trashed, Price: got it in trade for essentially $1600 worth owned it for 4 days now, main problems i have found: needles do not illuminate (except for fuel), speedo works 1/2 the time, hood paint is nasty, car stalls out randomly, brake pedal seems to take a lot of effort to push, smokes a bit on start up. no mods that i'm aware of other than 18" rims, haven't popped the hood yet other than a quick inspection though...so i'm not sure about anything else. has stock spoiler, and lots of little problems.
  15. i'll try that tomorrow, also saw some people talking about the IAC, not sure if the v-8 has an iac but if it does, i'll clean that, also going to replace the fuel filter, clean the egr (check engine light is already on..), and replace the pcv. hopefully one of those will fix it, i'm sure it could use it all anyways, i got the car in a trade for about 1600$ worth the stuff.
