  1. I had the driveshaft replaced and so far after some testing of hard stops, etc......NO THUMP! Here is the TSB info: TSB DL001-04 Rear Driveshaft Clunk Noise. According to the Tech that worked on my car, Lexus redesigned the driveshaft and coated the splines with Teflon. We'll see if this is the final chapter.
  2. Just received a call from the service manager and my newly designed driveshaft is to be installed on thursday morning.
  3. Had routine maintainance done today and the service manager told me that Lexus has Redesigned the driveline and the thumps are no longer an issue. He ordered a new one for me and it is set to be in place by thursday. SO.........For all of the fellow thumpers, lets hope that this is it. He explained what the problem was in the old drive shaft and what they finally did to fix the problem in the new design. It made sense so we will see what happens. :whistles: :whistles: :whistles:
  4. Use Meguaires NXT Tech Wax. You can get it at Target, etc. I use my car for work (approx 1000 miles/week) and had huge bug problems. I started using the tech wax and the bugs do not stick to the car as much. Also, a simple car wash removes 98% of them. I use it on the hood, bumber and mirrors. It's very easy to apply and lasts a couple of washes. Whatever you do, DON'T use the window squeegee at the gas station to rub the bugs off, you'll scratch your paint and make matters worse.
  5. Actually, I work with 2 people who have 4 runners and they both clunk in the same fashion, they warned me about it before I bought the GX 470, also have a friend who owns a Sequoia and it also has the Clunk.
  6. :chairshot: I think this is blown totally out of proportion. This is perhaps the nicest SUV on the market. This one tiny flaw, be it somewhat annoying, is nothing compared to the problems I have had with other SUV's that I have owned. This truck has the best ride, the most comfortable seats, is the best looking, and carries the Lexus service that we have grown accustom to. Comparing it to the competition, even with this issue, I would still buy the GX 470 hands down. I have 23K miles on it, I have a minor thump every once and a while, but thats it. ALL of my other SUV's I have owned including Acura and Mercedes have had major issues before 20K miles. Get over it.
