  1. Now the time has come to do the low-beam xenon bulb job. I fixed the exhaust pipe between the cat and middle muffler and removed the weight and heat shield on the process. Nothing to do with the headlamp low-beam bulbs but I’m just so confident after the success in exhaust repair that I’m ready to do the low-beam job too 😄 Only thing that I’m not sure about is the electric high voltage warning signs in the engine bay. Is there a risk of getting a high voltage electric shock when replacing the xenon bulbs? As a precaution the battery needs to be disconnected? What about the ballasts? And how do I know it’s the bulb that’s bad and not the ballast? The left side low-beam went off completely a few months ago and the right one is very weak in lighting power. I will start by removing the bolts from headlight assembly and take the bulbs as a reference when buying new bulbs. I guess I’ll go with the mid-priced bulbs. Meaning that they cost about $50-60 each. I can get them from local automotive parts store.
  2. My RX400h is still waiting for new bulbs. It has an exhaust pipe leak that meeds attention and I bought something to fix it without taking the pipe off or electrowelding it.
  3. Hi, what you told about the problem and previous phones I think the problem is with your phone and not in car’s system. My 2006 RX400h did connect easily with my iP7. I hope you solve the problem 😊
  4. I’m not sure how the steering wheel automatic adjustment worked after I disconnected the battery but I think that I just set the memory after the manual adjustment of the steering wheel. And it works as it should since then. On cold weather the electric motor is slower but that is another thing. I have the OBD code reader that can reset fault codes and read live data too. Not that my Lexus needs fault code resetting but it’s a cheap way to look into systems and good to have in case you would need it when something unusual happens with your car.
  5. Thanks for explaining the process through. I will have to do this same for my 2006 RX400h. The xenon bulbs are almost finished with the lighting power really low quality. And the LH bulb went kind of a shade of purple, not Deep Purple which would be nice 😎 In a local workshop the whole procedure with new bulbs would cost 250€ which is a bit short of $300. Not so bad but I still think I could do it for the cost of new bulbs. There is a lot of variety in bulb prices from $30 up to $200. I managed to survive through dark Winter months with a little help of fog lights although it’s not really allowed to use them when it does not snow or rain.
  6. I found this information in the Owner’s manual of my 2006 RX400h. I was too lazy to do the rear side door windows though. In my RX the moon roof motor drive belt is broken, so I had only the power windows and seat memory to be reset. Off topic: I’m really satisfied with the Mark Levinson audio and owning the car over a year I found it compatible with my iPhone’s bluetooth 😊 ps. Thanks for the youtube link as they are always welcome.
  7. Disconnecting the battery every time you leave your car for a few days is not a good idea. You have to reset the power windows and maybe some other electric components after the battery has been reconnected. In my opinion it is a better way to use a digital battery charger during the time car is not in use. Doing so you avoid the battery drainage problem.
  8. One possible solution for keeping your battery happy is to connect a battery charger when car is not in use for several days. I have a 2006 RX400h with over 400k km’s on it without any problems. One time there was a power failure when outside temp was -27C and I took my RX in warm garage after a short drive. All gauges and warning lights went crazy. Battery voltage was dropped to 8 volts. After an hour in warm garage all was well. I am really happy with my RX400h. Sunfoof drive belt is only thing that has broken.
