No problem. Glad to help and welcome to the forum.

This in NOT a Lexus specific issue. Many hybrids have it. The pure EVs don't because they are plugged in twice a day anyhow or they don't work at all. If you keep falling for the Greenwash marketing nonsense you will continue to get ever less usable cars. 0W16 oil to gain .1 mpg, transmissions that run at 190 F for better mileage and on it goes. None of this stuff is making cars more reliable or less of a pain to own.
-
If you are running with no 02 sensors it will never run right unless you get a professional tune written and installed. Without the sensor it is likely going to run far too lean when hot. Are your plugs showing signs of a lean condition. Also, use only OEM sensors, after markets cause a LOT of problems. If it was me, I would have had the muffler shop weld in O2 sensor bungs and hook them back up when they were deleting the Cat. At this stage I still suggest it is prudent to first run a live stream diagnostics to make sure that is the actual issue.
-
Did you change the O2 semsors when you were doing this. If you have then you need to hook up a live feed scan tool and record what is happening when it bogs. You haven't even bothered to post the actual error codes nor have you said if you have bothered to follow the diagnostic stream in the service manual for each error code. Trying to diagnose with the tiny amount of info you have provided is impossible.

Size is not the only consideration. Make and type of tire plays a big part. Tires with more sidewall ride better, and protect the rims better from pot holes. Tires also have to have the capacity to handle the weight you are hauling. That said, if you are just using this on pavement and want to improve the on pavement handling, get a stickier tires, with a wider footprint and a stiffer sidewall. Getting a high performance summer tire like the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, will make a bid difference, even in the same size. If you need an all season capable tire, check out the Nokian WR5

Which one should I buy, 2009 LS460L or 2012 LS460
Dean2 replied to sean116688's topic in General Chat
I would keep looking. I bought a 2015, SWB, White on Black, AWD with the full Executive Platinum package and 85,000 Klms for $32,000 in Jan this year. Bought from Birchwood Lexus in Manitoba. Absolutely pristine. Original owner, bought from Birchwood but was never driven in salt or snow. Would have preferred the Tan interior too, as that is what I had in my previous one, but this one was so perfect interior color came second. I would not buy a pre 2013 LS460 as they made substantial improvements in 2013 and 2014. I am still looking for a low mile 2017 in white or Red with Tan interior. If I ever find one, I will sell this one. -
I would be taking this issue up the food chain. Car came misaligned, this is NOT normal tire wear. This is consequential damage and should absolutely be covered. Take it to the owner, any decent dealer should be going to bat for you. Then Lexus if you need to. Best of luck. Let us know how you make out.

Have owned a 2006 GS 430,which is rear wheel drive, and am now driving a 2015 LS460 AWD . Two entirely different cars. The GS is sporty, responsive, and has a decent ride. The LS is a true luxury ride with good power, more space, especially for a rear seat passengers, and decent handling. The GS is way more fun for aggessive driving, the LS is the better long distance touring machine. As far as ownership costs, I have seen zero difference, the GS was bullet proof to 180,000 klms, and the LS has been too, but it only has 90,000 klms so far. I can't honestly say that repair costs have ever been a factor on any Lexus or Toyota product I have ever owned, and I have had many.

If you did this to my car and started it, you are buying the car and I am getting another brand new one. No chance in hell I am assuming the long term risk when I can get another brand new un f'ed up replacement. You can sell your brand new dieseled GX for whatever you can get to mitigate your loss. If it wasn't started I would be good with drain, flush tank and refill.

Take it to your Lexus dealer and make sure they have transfered the car to you. Also have their setup specialist walk you througg all the optional settings and help you set up the car the way you want it. That service is free. -
Build Sheet for my 2011 LS460

Good job and nice of you to take the time. Too bad the newbies never seem able to use a simple search function, or bother to say thanks for the answer.. -
Spud, there was not one snide comment in anything I said. I did not even mention that 3 hours after your first post you were back going where is everyone, why aren't you all falling all over yourselves to help poor little inexperienced me. It is my right to get free help from people I have never interacted with nor have I ever posted anything of any use on the forum. Your subsequent posts were not any better, you can ask for latitude for lack of etiquette but being rude and ungrateful is a whole other matter. Do you have the remotest idea of how many one post wonders a guy sees on car forums, asking for help with next to zero information of use to help with. Dragging pertinent info out of an OP gets old in a hurry. I clearly told you, get a service manual, and Techstream or take it to a shop. You have already had him spend more on parts than the diagnosis would have likely cost to start with and I have no idea what else is now messed up because of your random fiddling. Did you even use OEM replacement sensors?. Your friend needs this to run, you aren't getting them there and no one is going to be able to help you with the information you are providing in your posts.

You lack the equipment and the experience to effectively diagnose and trouble shoot this problem. It does not appear that you even have the service manual and diagnostic trees for this car, and that is a very basic item to have any chance or finding the problem. You are all over the map in what you have already looked at, and the information you have provided here is not broken down into the sequential steps and results of each test. There is a very defined and logical process that needs to be followed. Without that, even those of us that are really good at diagnosis and fixing can't help you remotely. You can spend a whole pile of money firing the parts cannon, or you can take the car to a good independent, here my Dealer is actually great, trustworthy and fairly priced but that isn't true everywhere, that specialises in Lexus and Toyota. Once the issues are properly diagnosed, you can decide how to proceed. Best of luck and let us know how this comes out.

I have not had a two tone Lexus. If the colours look different under bright sun light and in shaded light, my suggestion would be to go to an auto specialty paint store and get them to colour match your front bumper. Otherwise you may end up having to paint the whole bumper to get it to match the body.

2024 ES-350 Multi-information display

Go into the dealership and have their setup specialist walk you through this. They are a ton of great info and help. My dealership, they spend between 1 nand 2 hours helping you setup the car initially, and then are available any time to help you make changes.- 1 reply

I recently bought a 2015. Took quite a while to find a low mileage one. There were lots of 2007 to 2013 low mileage units cheap, but I wanted to get one of the last 2 or 3 years of production for longterm ownership. I think there are enough improvements to warrant waiting to find a newer ones.
-
Agree. I had mine installed by the dealer. Price, including install was less than ordering the parts from Rock. Also the originals lasted 16 years, I doubt any of the aftermarkets will last even close to that long, assuming they even work right. If your vehicle is old enough it doesn't already have TPMS, I have no advice, never tried the remote cap ones.

Another newbie. Joins May 24th, posts for help. Never comes back, never updates or says thanks.

What year and model is car. Interior and exterior color. where is the car located. any other major repairs or accidents. How do you know it just needs valaves and not a total rebuilt. How much are you asking. This has to be the goofiest for sale post I ever saw.

I think your issue is not likely bulbs. Start car, when light comes on, set the handbrake and release it. Does the light go out. If not put handbrake back on. Shutoff car and restart it. Handbrake light should be on, does it go out when you release the hand brake. I am thinking it is the handbrake position sensor giving you issues. Let us know what you find out once you try this.

Paid close attention yesterday to the idle on the LS460, 500 to 550 in gear, climate turned off. With climate on it idles at exactly 800, in gear. In neutral or park, climate on or off, it seems to idle at the same 750 rpm. Hope this helps.
