  1. Thanks. I had actually read that thread already, except I didn't notice that it continued beyond the first page, so I never read the relevant conclusion. I will try pouring water around that seam where his problem lay. Are there instructional videos or tutorials anyone is aware of that show how to remove the interior trim? I'm afraid I'll break something if I just go to prying these things off. I would particularly like to pry off the trim that I point to in the pics I posted, as well as the on that has metal "LEXUS" plate attached to it rear passenger door well so that I maybe peel back the carpet and peek into the channel. Also, I guess I should start with the lowest interior panel in the right side of the hatch area that would reveal where the water might enter.
  2. Thanks, Jim. I actually suspected a cracked drain tube in the front, but I have no idea where the tube runs and exits the car. Does the tube run inside the car under the mat beneath the carpet and actually exit the car right below the front passenger's feet? The other problem with that theory is, assuming the drain tubes are getting water from the sun roof exit holes, then it wouldn't make any sense that I still got water after putting a tarp over the roof. That's what got me thinking it might be water tracking along the door weather stripping and entering inside those tears in the photos. The other problem I have is that I have no idea how to begin to take off the interior trim pieces that are necessary to remove in order to peel back the carpet. I'd like to do that to make sure it gets dried out even if I stop the leak, whereever it might be.
  3. Could these be the source of water in front and back passenger floor I have been trying to find (see photos)? I have no idea if tears like these allow water into the cabin. Also, how do I remove the piece of trim that I am pointing to in the picture? Is it simply a matter of prying it up with something, or would I break something trying that? And would I be opening up a can of worms if I did, as in, being a pain in the tail to put back on without further !Removed! things up? Finally, if I replace the stripping, is it advisable to stick with what the Lexus parts counter offers, or can I get an after-market replacement installed that will do the trick just fine? thanks zep
  4. Already checked the AC drain and that was fine, not to mention I haven't been using it. Next I fished weed-eater line down the two front drain holes of the moonroof. That still didn't solve it. Next I put a tarp over the vehicle and, next rain, it still didn't solve it, though it may have reduced it. So it should have anything to do with the moon roof. It is only the floor that is affected and it begins in the front passenger side, and in a well behind the front passenger seat where the seat belt attaches. I'm not sure if it begins in one area and then is draining along the floor of the car to the other area, or if it affects both at once. The answer would apparently lie behind what is hidden behind the trim of the front passenger door. Are there photos online anywhere that shows me what is behind that, and also perhaps a tutorial on how to remove that trim (I'll also need to if I want to pull back the carpet and really make sure it dries out)? On the photos attached, I highlight the depressed area in front with a paper towel and put a blue strip where a line of moisture first appeared after a rain. In the rear photo, I blue tape shows the area where water accumulates by seat belt and a strip showing the general route where water may be traveling between back and front. No problems stand out when inspecting weather stripping. I wonder if a drain is clogged somewhere. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm sure a dealer would charge an arm and a leg just to diagnose it.
  5. EUREKA! found it [ behind the cover to the left of where the front passenger puts his feet (center of the car) ]
  6. Do I remove the glovebox and the cover piece below it to find the hose? Or is it behind the cover to the left of where the front passenger puts his feet (center of the car)? Or do I have to put it up on a rack and access it from the outside in order to unclog it? I've googled but all I have found are references that are useless to me, such as to look for a dangling hose by the control arm-- yeah, I have no idea what a control arm is, much less whether it is on the inside or outside of the car. I did find a good suggestion of using weed-whacker string to unclog it. But first I have to find it! It may turn out to be the moonroof hose, but first things first. I wish I could find a picture of it. zeppo
