I realize this is a bit late to answer, but I will anyway. I just purchased a used 2007 LS460 from the local Lexus dealer in Sacramento. Before I bought the car, I asked about that and the answer is: the car's tech is primitive compared to my phone (iPhone 5s), so if I want to access my phonebook from the car, I would need to add them by hand. So I've added the most called persons to the car, but find I am still using Siri to make calls - much easier that way. BTW: I do have my phone connected to the stereo via the AUX link (just a headphone pin on each end) and I hear everything from the car... not sure if you have that AUX jack, but it solves the issue of using my phone like I always have.
