i just got a new flex cable for the radio coz i broke it accidently, so now its installed right and everything is fine. but the lcd is showing some weird stuff and is not readable anymore. i just realized that when i installed the faceplate, the car was on and i didnt pull the power cord off. so my question here is....is the LCD burned? and how do i fix it?? will a simple re-install work? (like take off everything, then install with power cord off) thanks in advance.

ok, i got the screw-in bulb from lexus dealership....11.84 for one....and its gray based.....not brown.... the pn is 84999-60440 for the brown one and 84999-60360 for the gray one....the lexus guy told me that they dont use brown one anymore, and gray one has lower voltage and longer life time....(???)....however, the Bellevue, WA lexus dealership still has the brown one.....10.5 or 10.75 each.... so i dunno wuts going on....

just want to add something.... for 96 es300 the button light bulb for climate control r screwed in, but the button light bubl for radio control r SOLDERED IN. have fun DIY the light bulbs, and DONT rip the plastic tape thing with wire on it in the radio control (coz i ripped mine...and now the radio control wont turn on even i taped it back with tape...)

is the bulb for LCD or for the buttons? coz some buttons dont light up in my 96 es300, but the LCD display light up fully. and i couldnt find the bulbs for the buttons....

thanks now i am gonna try to do it myself sometime on the weekend... by the way, is it ok to get the timing belt change at toyota?? its alot cheaper....($275 comparing to 400 something at lexus) and i am in WI right now....

Just 150?? i went to the one in Appleton, WI, they quoted me for $610 Total to replace the damn cupholder/ash tray.....freaking a lot more expensive than the timing belt and spark plug combined.... DAMN ROBBERY~!!

some of my dash and radio/ac board lights went out, and the dealer wants 450 and 253.59 for those...so i am just wondering if its possible to fix those by DIY.. also, how do i replace the cup holder thing? it doesnt seem to be able to get pulled out.... and how do i take off the engine cover if i want to replace the sparkplugs? just unscrew it with the special tool?

hey ppl, i just got a 96 es300, and bought this remote key from lexus-parts.com, fcc id hyqwdt-b. however, i was unable to program the key by following bbsal's procedure. after the steps, i heard beep (door locked), and beep beep (door open) twice instead of just one "beep". i tried pressed buttom simutenusly, still not working. holding the buttom, obviously not working. wut should i do when i get to the beeping part since its more than one beep?
