  1. I have had mine for about 2 months and its great except for the noise coming from the front brake pads when changing directions. IF they fix this, yes for sure another GS430 would be great. BillH2, please PM me, as I am curious if your 2001 has the same problem with brakes as mine. I guess its normal according to Lexus, but would like input from some one with same year and model. Curious about the 4 corner alignment too, as mine is also noisy, from tires I am sure. ← Oly I am getting an error when attempting to PM you. As far as brakes go, my car doesn't make a sound. The guy who did the 4 corner alignment said it was off but I don't know if the noise reduction was in the alignment or the fact that I had two tires replaced. (Bought the car in Kirkland middle of March) Later Bill
  2. Had mine less than a month. So far, I love it and would most definately purchase another one. As far as noise goes, I had an alignment done, all four corners, and that cut out a LOT of the tire noise.
  3. Good luck getting the original owners name. I have tried and run into a brick wall with the state of Washington.
  4. Thanks for responding. I think that is the procedure to program the remote to open the doors and trunk, which we did. Getting the transponder to enable engine start seems to be a whole different kettle of fish. Has anyone actually bought the Lexus card for the OTC tester? I am beginning to think it would be a worth while investment. Thanks again Bill
  5. Apparently either I am doing something wrong attempting to program a couple of additonal keys, or something else is going on. I have a single black key which when inserted in the ignition turns the security light off immediately. I also have a valet key (Gray) that when inserted turns off the secutiry light within a few seconds. Both key will start the car. The procedure is to insert the master key, press the accelerator five times, next press the brake petal six times. Remove the master key and insert the key to be programmed. After one minute, the security light stops flashing and the key is programmed. The locksmith who made both keys did this, after an hour of it not working gave up. Both keys will open the doors and trunk. I took it home and tried the same thing. I went throught the procedure to erase the keys, but it still refuses to recognize the new keys. Anyone had any success doing this? What am I doing wrong? I was under the impression that the black key, if will start the car is always the master key?? I did a serch but could find nothing pertaining to a 2001 GS430. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
  6. Does anyone offer Lexus parts at discount prices? I have looked at a number of sites who advertise "Wholesale Prices" but are in fact selling at full list. (At least exactally what the local Lexus dealership quotes, which I assume is full bore retail) I had one guy say "You're driving a Lexus, and you are complaining about parts prices?" Shut him up good when I pointed out that his new Dodge pickup cost him way more than my 2001 Lexus cost me. Thanks Bill
  7. Is there any way to change the climate control on a 2001 GS-430 from displaying in Celsius to Fahrenheit? Thanks Bill
  8. I just bought a 01 GS430, 62K Cinabar, black leather interior from a dealer (Not a Lexus dealer). They had two extended warranty plans they wanted to roll me into. The coverage was basically the same on both plans, the least expensive with $300.00 deductible was still over $2000.00. I passed. I have purchased extended warranty plans in the past, never even came close to equaling the amount of premiums in repairs. (Of course, the sure fire way to really need an extended warranty plan is not to buy one :) There are a number of items covered by Lexus to at least 70,000 miles. Power train, emissions and corrosion protection. I would check with Lexus about your car before I committed. Good Luck Bill
  9. Does anyone know what the 90K service entails? I am dealing on a 99 SC400 with 85K, if I decide to buy the car, it will need this service done and I would like to do it myself. Don't have access to an owners manual. Thanks Bill
