  1. Now that I think of it, it was the VW Vanagon whose high pressure hose went out and i had rebuilt due to the excessive cost. I only replaced the power steering pump, my hoses were fine on the Lexus.
  2. When I got a look at the price I found a company that rebuillt mine, it was a lot cheaper.
  3. Replaced the egr manifold, reset, check engine light off and problem solved. I understand this manifold where the vacuum lines attach is usually what needs to be replaced not the EGR valve itself. Huge difference in price. Hopefully I am done with problems for awhile although I will need brakes in the near future.
  4. 1993 SC 300 My check light shows egr problem. Took off the black round vaccum manifold near the firewall and sucked to see if there was a problem. Needs to be replaced. Is that the egr manifold and which looks like it is a separate part from the egr valve.
  5. Prbblem has been resolved. It was getting spark, and injectors appeared to be working so I was tracing down the wires to the ECU. I found a wire that was corroded, I assume because of the recent rain. Cleaned it up and problem was solved.
  6. 1993 SC 300 Car is running rough like it is missing. Pulling off each plug wire, when you pull off the No. 6 there is no change in how it is idling so that isolated my problem. Wiring seems okay. Getting spark. I can hear the injector so I think it is working. What do I do now? Stumped Error code 25 and 26. Ran a can of injector cleaner, no help. Replaced oxygen sensors on exhaust manifold and fuel filter, no help. You can see the pulse for the injector but I don't know if that means it is working.
  7. Thanks, good news and bad news. I was just relying on the error codes, didn't think that I had a misfire, it runs but runs as if I have a misfire. Checked the wires and now will pull the sparkplugs which is always a chore. Had the plugs replaced 20,000 miles ago. Don't know if they screwed something up. I have a plug that isn't firing for some reason. The oxygen sensors and fuel filter replacement should have been done anyway and I look at that as preventive medicine. I like the car, don't like to work on them anymore. My other car is a 1973 BMW 2002 which keeps me busy enough. Thanks for all posts. This forum is very helpful to me. A 1993 doesn't have a MAS sensor that you can clean, I already took that off and looked.
  8. 1993 SC 300 with 186,000 miles, the check light is on and error codes 25 and 26 indicates it is too lean and too rich. Hoping for the easy solution I changed the oxygen sensors on the exhaust manifold and the fuel filter. Still runs rough. Any other suggestions before I bite the bullet and take it in.
  9. Did you buy aftermarker? If so where OEM are around $100
  10. I looked at cleaning the mass air flow sensor on my 1993 SC 300. Doesn't look like I have an accessible wire to clean. Behind the air cleaner is the square, took off the five wire harness, three screws and lifted it out. There are no wires to clean, nothing that even looks like a sensor. Replacement cost $460. Am I looking at the right place.
  11. I am in the same position, I got error code 25 and 26 Oddly this seems to be air fuel ration lean malfunction (25) Air-Fuel Ration rich malfunction (26) So mine is rich and lean at the same time. Car runs real rough, like it is missing. What do you know about the mass air flow sensor?
  12. Figured it out, AC codes You get codes on my 1993 by pressing recirc and auto buttons and turning on key. Under hood jump the T E1 and E1 of the diagnosis and counting flashes on the check engine light for engine codes. got code 25 and 26 as my problem
  13. You get codes on my 1993 by pressing recirc and auto buttons and turning on key. There is also info on jumping TE1 and E1 of the datal link connector and counting flashes on the check engine light. Do both of these give the same data, if so why wouldn't you just always use the reciir/auto readout?
  14. My 1993 SC 300 was starting rough and running rough, like it was missing. Then the check light came on. It shows error code 21 and 43. Seemed like it was smelling like something was burning. Is 21 the O2S and 43 the starter signal, and if so what do I need to do to repair. It is really running rough and I believe I should refrain from driving it until I get this fixed. 158,000 miles
