  2. (Hey!) Sc owner's, This past weekend I was looking into upgrading all of my interior bulbs to Xexon. My problem is with the personal lights, located by the Dome fixture. The manual doesn't list the bulb type only watt (8). I tried looking at the bulb, but the writing is so small I can't make it out. Any assistance would be appreciated. I own a Sc400 Thanks!
  3. 49er, This SC400 sounds like it has 2 many problems and would be expensive to fix properly. The price also seems somewhat high, with all the questions surrounding the car.

since you can’t test drive the car, do you have a VIN number to find out about its history?

I would look for another SC 300 or 400...just my opinion

  4. Bluedevil1550, If you do purchase the '93 Sc300? Just keep your foot off the accelerator, (under 55mph) with any type of wet conditions on the road surface. It looks like you won't have to worry about the white stuff (snow) as much, living in South Carolina. But it is known, rear wheel drive and snow don't mix very well. Another good tip is to check your tire pressure and tread regularly. Good luck! In whatever car you decide to buy.

  5. Strap, I just upgraded my foglights, on my 95' SC400. Once you get the splashguard down the foglight will be enclosed, with a circular plastic cap. I believe you turn it counter clock-wise to open the casing. This will give you access to the bulb and socket.

My problems began here, trying to disconnect the wire from the socket. The foglight wire fits snug into the socket. I had to wiggle and tug, until I jarred it loose.

NOTE *disconnect the wire from the socket before you open the clasp. This keeps the bulb in place and out of your way. To open the clasp, I believe you push down and it will unfasten. Hopefully it's

  6. Happy 2004 to all!

Has anyone ever steam cleaned the engine compartment of a Sc 300\400...If so

    1. How much did it cost?

    2. Were you happy with the outcome?

    3. Would you do it again?

    4. Do you have a picture of a Before\After?

Any suggestion on this topic would be appreciated Thanks!

  7. Looking into changing the front fenders black plastic grill, to a chrome honeycomb pattern. Is this possible? I’ll take a peek under the front bump, this holiday weekend to see how involved my project might be. I own a 1995 SC400; any suggestions are appreciated. THANKS!

  8. rbelloff, My preference...is the narrow 5 spoke rims. Easy to clean all the brake dust. I have a SC400 with Enkei RP01, 16" x 7" 5/114.3 35 15.84 Silver. I also like the Voxx Matrix, 17X8 5-114.3 40HS Silver

Enkei RP01 can be found at 1010tire.com

Voxx Matrix can be found at discounttiredirect.com

  9. Need some advice...When driving around 60mph, in wet weather, my 95 SC400 loses tire traction. Currently driving with (OME) Goodyear GT4. Is there a tire that dispenses the water more effectively? Or will I need to add more weight to the rear and change the cars suspension to be satisfied, or just Slow Down when driving in the rain. Thanks!

  10. Johnfw, I just upgraded my foglights, on my SC400 2 months ago. Once you get the splashguard down the foglight will be enclosed, with a circular plastic cap. I believe you turn it counter clock-wise to open the casing. This will give you access to the bulb and socket.

NOTE *disconnect the wire from the socket before you open the clasp. This keeps the bulb in place and out of your way. To open the clasp, I believe you push down and it will unfasten. Hopefully it's the same for your SC430? Good Luck!

  11. ProZac & EveryOne, I've been using a product called Z-Max, for 2 years. It's an engine\fuel treatment, which cleans the Cylinders\Pistons and fuel injector. You can find it in most Auto stores for about $40.00 (With Transmission treatment.) It's helped with the fuel mileage on my SC400.

  12. Good ideas,

I check the oil change list: Oil Filter changed, motor oil, and drain gasket changed. Air Filter, all fluid levels, belts and hoses, tire pressure checked but not changed. done March 07 2003

The only recomendation they had was brakes soon because i have 25% front 30% back. so like next oil change probably. So, if i put a fule additave treatment thingy-ma-bob (high tech terminology) like STP fule cleaner, that might help? Its worth a try. I have about 70k miles, should i wait for 75k or 80k for them to change spark Plugs, or they probably know? I use to DIY my girlfriends 90' VW Cabriolet, but this 97 Lex is LOT more complicated :P so ill leave it to the professionals.

    Thanks m8's
