  1. Give this a look: http://www.beverly-auto.co.jp/whats/2010/06_25/index.html
  2. The first time we painted them we used a Rustoleum high gloss after a plastic prep cleaning. After a 24 hour dry we put on a Dupli-Color clear coat and it orange peeled. we stripped it back to gold and used a Rustoleum for plastic and omitted the clear coat. It's a nice shiny black finish, almost a plasti coat look. We used a 3M tube glue for emblems to put them back on. They came loose fairly quickly so we reset them the next day with more glue.
  3. OBDII?
  4. Those sandstorms will grit up your windshield.
  5. Review: 1992 Lexus SC400By Steven Lang on February 16, 2009 “There is nothing quite like it!” Every enthusiast I know has that attitude towards their car. But rarely is it actually true. Platforms are shared. Engines and transmissions are modified and tossed into whatever else can accommodate them from a cost perspective. Compromises are made. Only sometimes they aren’t. Sometimes you can buy something so unique, so timeless, that you can appreciate the qualities even twenty or thirty years later. The Lexus SC400 is one of those rare, outstanding machines. Let’s start with the door hinge. That’s right. That usual flimsy piece of metal that’s supposed to keep the door open and closed through the ages. On most cars, as the car ages, the bolts holding the hinge to the frame will eventually get a little loose, and the welds can actually wear out over time. At some point, you will eventually hear a popping sound when you open the door. Some owners fix it. Most ignore it. But first generation Lexus SC owners will never face that choice. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2009/02/capsule-review-1992-lexus-sc400/
  6. Can you park the car inside where a HVAC system might dehumidify your ride?
  7. Man, I hope he got that fixed. It's been 8 years.
  8. How trustworthy are these codes?
  9. I originally posted some before and after pics, hopefully they show up soon.
  10. What is the asking price and what is his repair/maintenance budget? My son bought one under similar circumstances. He paid $2400 and immediately spent $1500 on a timing belt, water pump, gaskets, plugs, and wires. It runs like a top with 140k miles on it.
  11. Long time lurker, first time poster (I'll take my answers off the air). My 16 year old son and I have been cleaning and fixing a '93 SC400 for about six months now. It is his every day driver and has recently wanted to do some mod work on it with my help. After reading some threads on refurbing the gold badging we thought we would give it a try. After one failed effort we got a pretty good look:
