Thanks for the feedback! In this case, I don't have pictures because this was a car that I was considering purchasing, but did not purchase. I did get the answer to my question by talking to local interior shops. In this case, the interior seats were ripped or cracked on all four seats since this was a Florida car exposed to plenty of great Florida sun. I discovered that leather seat materials can cost as little as $700 from leatherseats.com or you can spend thousands. Installation fees, from a professional shop, will range between $100-$150 per HALF seat. This is not an inexpensive job. Yes you can install the new leather seat covers yourself and save a ton of money, but I know with 100% confidence that my skills and (limited) patience would not give me professional appearing results.

You guys and girls may already be aware of this, but this was something that I recently discovered that has helped my son and i with our potential SC400 purchase plans. You can visit Lexus.com, create a login and get the full history of service for any Lexus that was serviced by Lexus. It's been the first thing that I do when I'm checking out a potential car to purchase. I've been amazed that frequently I know more about the car history than the seller! Here's what you need to do: 1) Go to Lexus.com 2) Click Owners Resources near the top right 3) Click My Lexus 4) Create a login ID and password 5) Log into the site 6) Click the Service History and add a car using the VIN 7) Navigate through the Service History to see what service was performed Most older cars will typically have service history stop at some point when the owner finally realizes that they can save a ton of money by having service performed on their car from a repair shop other than Lexus. Still, it's a great help when you are trying to get history on a car and the owner has no service records.

Considering purchasing an SC400. Every car I've seen needs to have the leather replaced on the front seats, brake boot, center armrest and the rear seats. What is the cost for a professional to replace the entire leather interior? Any things that nee to be taken into consideratiion? i.e. replacing the leather with a perforated leather surface? Thanks for your help!

I'm trying to help my son with a purchase decision on an SC400. The trunk is really small on those cars, so I'd like to know the width and depth.

Thanks for the information. My son is now looking at a second SC400 with 140,000 miles and good service records. The owner is asking $5900 for the car has issues....torn seats, illegal exhaust, etc. The price is high, but I never let a crazy high asking price prevent me from trying to work a deal! My son is has a new drivers license and enough cash to buy an SC400. I really love these cars, but the specific car that he wants to buy has 140,000 miles and the current owner, who is not the original owner, does not have any documentation on the car and no service records. I know these cars are rock solid reliable, but I'm not crazy about even considering a car with no service records with this many miles. I plan to have my mechanic check out the car before we consider purchase, but can you guys and girls tell me what I should look out for on any SC400 with this many miles? What are the tell tale signs of a problem vehicle?
