  1. Hey guys, last night i did a power steering flush on my '95 SC400 as preventative maintenance (disconnected the return line and let the fluid run everywhere, then put it back on, refilled it and bled). It now makes groans whenever i turn the wheel going slow. Is there still air in it? This flush method has worked fine on all my other cars.
  2. 2500? Thats friggin ridiculous. For 2500 i would drive down to tampa and do it for you lol
  3. Royal Purple is great. I would recommend Red Line if you want the ultimate best however, since I have used it for a long time. It can withstand extreme temperatures on both ends while maintaining it's viscosity. And I would feel comfortable leaving it in for 10,000 miles especially since it's $8/quart. The 2JZ/1UZ can run extremely hot, which warrants a demand for an oil like this if you drive it hard. I took my Supercharged MR2 to 180k and still kicking using Redline 10w30 in the motor and redline p/s fluid in the blower. And i drive the living pee out of it.
  4. Exact same problem driving home with my new used GS400 that I bought today. Did you find the problem? ← Yes. Cleaning up and tightening the battery connections and replacing about 5 iffy fuses, including the 100A AM1 fusible link did the job. Let me know how it goes.
  5. Synthetic actually provides a lot better protection for high mileage cars. The only reason it would leak is if you had questionable oil seals that are held together by sludge. Make your choice, and if it does induce leaks that just means you will have to replace oil seals. Valvoline Maxlife makes a synthetic for high mileage engines, which is supposed to preserve and condition seals. If you don't do synthetic then castrol/valvoline/mobil 0 are ok. Quaker State isn't even all that bad and i get it for $6.67 for 5 quarts.
  6. it's also possible it's something in the parking brake assembly
  7. I'd also like to add that the car fires up really quick after it has been sitting and cooled down, so I wouldn't think it would be a dying battery. I could be wrong though.
  8. I didn't see anything when I searched. Thanks for the reply. I replaced some questionable fuses today and did some tightening and sprayed anti corrosion stuff on the battery wires. Might have fixed it.
  9. Hi all, first of all I want to say hi. I have a '95 SC400 jade green. Now, for the important stuff... Today I started noticing something awkward while traveling down I95 through Florida. No matter what speed I was going, my CD player would cut out for a few seconds whenever I hit the brakes or flipped a turn signal. Later on it got worse. Whenever I hit the brakes, the lights would dim AND the CD player would cut out for a bit then come back on. This only happens after the car has warmed up. A similar situation occured on my Supra when the fusible link for the alternator was bad. I don't think this is the battery or alternator because it starts fine in the cold. Any suggestions? Thanks, Christian
