  1. I will add some more to the list. I've seen these run flat tires go out at 12k miles, Also camber adjustment is really big on these and they are tend to throw out of spec. For those of you who haven't dismount these tires, they are a pain in the rear. Also you need to slow down over bumps, these are low profile tires so there ain't that meat on the tire to absorb the energy. Good luck with the SC, I still think it's expensive to keep up with this car.

  2. Oh, as a matter of fact, I believe you completely. I have no reason not to believe you (especially since I myself own a V300). I just want to see those pics! It's a big mess, you are right, but WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MESS it is! Man, I always get so psyched up to see people who are willing to do so much and invest so much into a goal that everyone else says will be impossible to achieve.

    Congratulations!!! :)

By the way, if you are curious, this is my "mess" at the shop:

Very nice. Are you sure your passenger's side will fit? Look like the piping going that route. Keep it coming guys. My plan is slight different though. I'm going to run na-t with the gs300 that I have. But we will see.

  3. This condition is normal but once it get too loud you can go ahead and apply some grease to quiet the noise down. This process will require of removing the shifter and center console. We had a client came in the shop, he insisted that this is not a normal condition. So we removed the center console and apply some grease at the interlock and the noise is reduced 50%. Have fun guys.

  4. Hello Bob,

You should bring it back and tell them your problem is not fixed yet. Are you sure your valve cover gaskets ain't leak? Usually when the valve cover gaskets do leak. I would suggest the client to replace them first. Clean everything off and tell them to come back in about a month to see if the rear main seal is leaking. Let me know Bob.

  5. I wouldn't accept the owners diagnositics unquestioned.  Pay the 75 bucks to the dealer to have it diagosed.  I'm glad to learn about the PCV valve clogging, didn't know that one.  Might be something else like a leaky PS that sprays back and they guy THOUGHT it was a rear main seal.  I've never seen a post about a bad rear main seal failure.

I will be suprise once you raise the car up. Real main seal leakage is common on older lexus. I mean the seal get old and it does fail. Like vdenny said, I would take it to the shop and let them check out.

  6. I bought a 2001 RX300 with a build date of 10/00. It currently has 44K miles and in the book it shows as the last performed service at 30K miles. What is this sludge buildup you guys are talking about? I plan on having the service done next week at my local repair shop (owned by a High School friend).

    Thanks in advance! :)

The sludge problem developed due to lack of oil changes. There is a discussion on the Es forrum.

  7. You need to hook up the gauge to get the low and high side reading. A good running a/c will have 30 psi on low and 190 psi on high side. If the system has a leak, I would take it to a shop and have them check out. You can't guess on a/c work.

  8. Tim,

There is no cold start injector on this car. What make you think it's the cold start injector? Does your car crank over at all? I would go ahead and check all the basic stuffs first. Battery, starter, fuses, relays. Four things needed to run the car: compression, spark, fuel and air. Give me some more details and I will walk you through the steps.
