  1. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong area to post this - I have not been active on the board. I am selling my 2005 Lexus SC430 - it is black on black with 78,000 miles on it. I have owned it since brand new. Never wrecked, but did have a hail claim - but was repaired by a reputable body shop and did have "paintless dent removal". I had the dealer add the official Lexus trunk kit with spare tire so you don't have to have run-flats or worry about now having a spare. I also had an ipod plug installed in the center console which works great. The vehicle is located in East Tennessee and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or know of anyone with an interest and I will take photos. Thank you
  2. I am trying to sync a new Verizon iphone with my 2005 SC430 and cannot get the bluetooth on the phone and car to find each other. I know how to make the car send out the signal - and how to make the phone search for a signal - but they just don't seem to be seeing each other. Any one have any suggestions? Thank you.
  3. I found this in another post and it got me to the screen. I live in a weird area and my phone won't work at home so I can't try it out - but at least I found the screen. Transmission in "Park." (Brake not required) Turn key to "ACC." (Accessory mode) (Did not try in "ON" or with the engine running, might work.) The nav screen needs to be open. Press the "DISP" button under the nav screen. Just inside the inset border, where the screen underneath is showing through, press the upper left and lower left corners six times: UL, LL, UL, LL, UL, LL. (Don't press the upper left and lower left corners of the SCREEN -- press farther in, inside the corners of the inset rectangle.) A service menu will appear. Press the green "MENU" button. A higher level menu appears. Press the "BT Voice Quality Set" button. Next to the "Send Voice Lv," use the "<" and ">" buttons to adjust the level down or up. Your initial level is probably 0, like mine was. I raised mine all the way to +5, apparently the maximum. There is also an adjustment for the receiving (incoming) volume. (You can only test the results later, when making a call.) Press the green "MENU" button to go back to the higher menu. If you want to make sure your setting was saved, you can press the "BT Voice Quality Set" button again. The numbers should be the same. Turn your key to "LOCK." (This is the only obvious way I saw to get out of the service menu.) You are done, and can try making calls. I don't what the "voice profile" and associated numeric keypad entries do. Mine came set at 6. When I tried re-entering 6 on the numeric keypad, it returned the microphone and speaker volumes to 0.

  5. 2005 SC430 - I've read several posts about other models having adjustments to the bluetooth volume and I can't figure it out on mine. When I use my phone (blackberry storm) everyone complains they can't hear me. I can get to the service menu by going to volume, then upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left, but still can't figure it out.
  6. I read that one and tried it - but my system (2005 model) must be a different one. I can't get to that menu that way. I can get to the service menu by going to volume, then upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left and then it takes me to the service menu and an option is tel voice - but when I get there it says "echo cancell (not a mispell) parameter" and the menu has a bunch of letter and numbers with no direction.
  7. I have an SC430 (2005) and this fix doesn't get me to the menu. I can get to the telephone menu but it has lots of choices that I am afraid to mess with. Any Suggestions?
  8. I have an 05 SC430 and Blackberry Storm - same buzzing problem and I've been unable to find a solution. I've "paired" and "unpaired" several times. Other than this the phone works fine - listeners just complain they can't hear me. The buzzing is when making connecting to make an outgoing call.
  9. I posted earlier about the cracked wheel. I finally got home after almost losing my mind with the dinging every two minutes. The local dealer looked at the wheel today and says is it not a warranty issue. They claim the wheel was damaged when I had tires put on almost five months ago. This doesn't make sense to me - if the wheel was damaged by the tire installer, wouldn't it have shown up before now? The tire itself is just fine. A body shop friend said he had never seen a cracked wheel without a damaged tire and felt it would be a warranty issue. Has anyone else had any problems with this or have any ideas? I don't know whether to try to push higher up with Lexus or just buy the new wheel and move on. Thank you.
  10. I don't have tools with me and am not handy-dandy. I read there was a box to the left of the steering wheel, but could not find it. Also, why couldn't the tire dealer put the sendor on the new wheel ?? Any other solutions before I leave tomorrow am ?
  11. I've read the posts but am confused about the audible tire sensor disblement. I'm 500 miles from home and found I have a cracked rim. To make a long story short, I've been traveling for four days and have had the tire sensor come on every day with a low front tire. First tire shop I stopped out in NC said I had a cracked rim and needed to replace it and told me to go to a dealer. I drove to a Lexus dealer in SC who told me they didn't see a cracked rim (but earlier told me if I did have one it would take 3 business days to get one in) and they couldn't tell why the tire was losing air each day (a lot!) and sent me on my way. They evidently didn't even bother to take the wheel off. It got worse and I went to a tire dealer this am who took the wheel off and showed me the cracked rim. Tire almost was flat overnight since filling up yesterday and I have 600 more miles and three days to go before getting home. Since I knew it was going to take 3 days to get rim, I bought an inexpensive rim and had the tire put on it to get me home. Once home I'll sell the rim and order a Lexus rim. Now the problem - the audible alarm goes off evey two minutes and will drive me crazy before I can get home to TN. Local tire dealer says they can't put the sensor on the wheel I bought and I leave for GA in the AM and then TN on Tues or Wed. Any quick and easy way to disable the audible alarm without !Removed! anything else up? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  12. I had the retrofit done yesterday and it looks really good. It's going to be annoying to have reach over the tire kit all the time, but I think it's the only option for a decent ride. I'll make another post about tires to choose as that will be my next project.
  13. I've read all the posts about tires and am ready to replace my runflats (horrible tires), but am not comfortable without a spare. I ordered the "spare" from Lexus - less than $200 - but now they want $500 to retrofit my trunk to hold it. This just seems wrong. Does anyone have any experience with this retrofit and is there a better way to transport the tire. I travel a lot and don't want to be away from home in a non-populated area without a spare for a service truck to put on for me. I would probably be using non-Lexus service call because of rural areas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Thanks for previous post, but I know how to set the buttons. I went back to the dealer yesterday. After my seat was unplugged by the dealer for previous work it had to be "initialized" again- to do this you take the seat all the way up - all the way back, tilt all the way forward and then back. Unfortunately it's not in the owners manual and the service rep wasn't familiar with it. A real pain when they don't give you info.
  15. For the second time my sc430 has lost the ability to memorize the seat positions. Happened when brand new and happened again today after the dealer disconnected it to replace the carpet. Service dept no help on phone - want me to go back in, but it's time and distance. I know there is a way to re-set the seat program so it will "learn" again. Usually it's done when the car is new and doesnt have to be done again. When I try to set my seat positions nothing happens - no beep - no nothing. Yes, I'm holding it for three seconds with the car in park and my foot off the break. HELP
  16. Brand new member - glad to find you. I have a 92 SC300 that I've owned since it was new and am ready to go for a new (or slightly used) SC 430. I live in a small town with just one dealer and they will not negotiate on the new SCs. Is this pretty standard around the country right now or would I be better off contacting dealers in larger cities. I'm 175 miles from Atlanta and will be visiting Florida next month on vacation (I'm not in a hurry) and thought I might find a larger market more competitive. Any experience you can share would be appreciated.
