how long had the car been idling? your trans may have overheated. long periods od idleing, even in park can cause overheating. ← Don't think overheating was any problem. It was on for about 15 minutes. Why would this cause the VSC lights to come on and stay on? Must have done something in the steering column. Taking it to be looked at tommorow at a trusted mechanic. If it is something simple, I would like to know if you have ideas.

2000 LX 470 60K miles. Just bought it. VSC OFF / VSC TRAC lights on. just came on when I was lubricating some parts in steering column. Did not unhook any components though. Why would this come on? It just got its 60Kmiles service. Is there something in the steering column that works with these systems I could have harmed, or is it coincidental? I was not driving when they first came on. The car was in park. Please help Tom

2000 LX 470 Had casing off of steering column this weekend. I had the car on in park (not moving at all) and was trying to lubricate some moving parts in the steering column. I have had some annoying noises coming from the steering column when turning quickly(backing up etc...). Figured out that it was coming from what looked to be a small gear like looking peice at the base of the steering wheel. I did not remove or "unhook" any parts or wires. I simply added some lithium grease to some of the parts with annoying noises. Never corrected the noises, but when I looked up, both the VSC TRAC light and the VSC OFF light were illuminated and come on every time I turn the car on and do not go off anymore. No problems with driving yet, but what has happened? What do I need to do? (Note-brake fluid and all fluids are full / 60K service just done ???????????????? Thanks Tom

Have the same problem in New Jersey. Just got a 2000 LX 470. Some of the normal radio stations come in very poorly. Everything checked out fine on mine as well.
