Is the radiator temp sensor plugged in? It's on the bottom tank on the drivers side.

Any time the CEL light comes on the TRAC light comes on as well to inform you the TRAC system is disabled. Trac will not operate due to engine codes

This "mechanic" is full of sh*t! I have worked for lexus as a tech for 12 years and have seen only 3 rear wheel drive transmissions fail. I own a 1990 ls400, 1992 sc400, and a 1997 gs300, none with any type of transmission issue. All vehicles have over 100,000 miles, the ls400 having 278,984 miles. Never a problem.

Seen this before. High mileage car? On the passanger side near the front of the motor is the "ne" crankshaft signal harness, close to the #1 injector. The connector has to be moved to remove the manifold. Sometimes the wires break due to age and corrosion. No crank signal will cause this problem.

Leave the t/belt on and hold the crank pulley with a chain wrench or breaker bar against the floor. The use a breaker bar to loosen the cam bolts. Then tear down the rest.

PO1130,1133? Never heard of PO 130,133. Lexus tech here, email me data list of the codes and freeze frames if possible.

Swap the #2 and # 4 colis and see if the misfire moves to #4. I have seen some coils fail on these cars.

2 possible problems. The EGR postion sensor for 1997 modesl years and up, also the VSV for the EGR. It's the electonic valve that applies vacuum to the EGR valve.

Front upper strut supports are making noise.

There is a fix for this problem. Various frame dampners, new skidplate, steering shaft and Michelin tires. Dunlop equipped tires are the main cause. This fix works as I have installed many at the dealer I work at.

Power steering rack is the problem. The PPS solenoid is failing. This causes pressure entering the rack to jump up and down and create a steer ahead feel. Buy a new rack.

There are updated headlamps for this condition.

code 13 is a bad camshaft, or crankshaft signal. Make sure the wires aren't cut by the serpentine belt.

Hi all,
Newbie, great informative forum!
1998 GS400
Recently, my car was broken into and they completely destroyed my key cylinder. When I went to the dealer to ask for a replacement, they said that they could only order a new Key cylinder with a new key. They apparently can't order a specific Key cylinder with VIN that would fit my original key. Is there anyway that I could replace my key cylinder and still use my original key?
Thanks
Order the key/cylinder set and have a locksmith rekey the cylinder to the old key

I joined this forum and the 100 series forum at ih8mud.com yesterday. I posted the following message there yesterday. If you have responded there then ignore the following. Otherwise, I am seeking anyone else who has similar experience.
I bought a factory certified 2000 lx470 in April, 2003. The rear dampers have
been gradually getting worse until they finally became unbearable early this
Summer. When I took it to the dealer from which I bought it, they gave me the
old story about Jiffy Lube places putting washer fluid in the hydraulic
reservoir. They said that the only thing they could do was to bleed the
system to see if it would straighten up, which I had to pay for(~$300) . It
did not help much, and now it is much worse about 3 months later. The car
still has 3 1/2 years and almost 30,000 mi. left on the warranty. The dealer
said since it probably was damaged by an oilchange place it is therefor not
covered by the warranty. They say that the only way to fix it now is to
replace the whole system for $8000. They said that one customer got their
insurance company to pay for the repair under the comprehensive coverage.
Needless to say I think I am getting the runaround. I am more inclined to
believe that they do not want to fix it because they are the dealer who
carried out the certification.
The AHC stopped working for a few days recently , so I took out the 50A fuse
next to the fender for a few days. Over the next few days the rear suspension
pumped down several inches, so I replaced it and the AHC has been working for
the most part since then. However, after a few bumps it pumps down so that
the next time I stop it has to raise the rear again.
Since I am getting stonewalled by the dealer, I want to know why I cannot just
buy new rear dampers or why the warranty will not buy them. By reading all
the way through this forum today, I have read that others have experienced the
failure at about the same mileage. What have they done? I am tempted to buy
a normal suspension for it, but am afraid that would void the rest of the
warranty on the rest of the truck. I do not really want to raise it higher
than the stock N position. Anyone with similar experience? How would you
solve the problem?

Is there any way to program an 04 GX 470 remote without having to go to the dealership to get it done? I have a customer who is in Europe that lost a key. We ordered him the key, got it cut but they want us to bring the car and the key to the dealership to get it programmed. I am trying to figure out if there is an alternative way for my customer to do this. Any help/ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Key must be preogrammed by the scan tool. Immobilizer code has to be registered by the dealer
