If my memory serves me right...I believe that from 98'-00' (maybe 97') the bushings can be replaced. Anything older you have to replace the arm or find a really patient mechanic that will spend the time to take them out!!!!

I currently have three cars and the boss (you know who I mean) told me one of them has to go sad.gif ...So after many days of debate, it looks like the SC400 has to go.
It's a 1998 SC400 with 78K miles in a rare factory Baroque Red Metallic with tan interior. The car is absolutely in mint condition. I have invested about 4-5K in small mods over the past 5 years. I have kept all OEM parts that I have upgraded and they will go with the car. I am the second owner and when I bought the car it was bone stock. The timing belt was also just done at 74K.
Please PM me if interested. biggrin.gif

I believe that the 98' V8's and up are interference engines...That is when Lexus bumped the hp to 290 with VVTI...which therefore made them an interference engine...
To my knowledge the V8's from 97' to 92' were non-interference engines...

There working Great, I have not had a problem yet with Them.
Thanks for the reply... :D
Did you get the B6 for the SC or Supra?...What damper setting number have you been riding on most of the time?...
-
Ahhhh...I think I am going to go to Club Lexus Forum...Seems to be more active people on that website that respond to questions... :D

Dont buy Tokico.I did not like them.It was too harsh.Everyone told me to buy them so i did but i Live in NYC and i hated them.I like the KYB GR-2 much better.Better ride i didnt care the the the Tokicos handled better.I have heard the the Tokico Illumina are very good but expesive.
Thanks for your reply...I am leaning towards Supra TT or NA OEM springs with Tokico Illumina shocks...or maybe go all out and get Zeal coilovers...
Problem is I cannot find anybody that has installed the Zeals on our cars (SC300/400) that has left any feedback...I think one person did and loved them...I think I am going to try other Lexus forums and see what I can find...doens't seem to be much here!!

Does anybody know how much (if any) Supra TT springs will lower a SC400?...
Has anybody put Supra TT springs on a SC400 with KYB or Tokico adjustable shocks?....Thanks
Also, if I have a 98 SC400 should I buy 98 Supra springs or does it really matter?...
Hellooooo!!!...Anybody <_<

Hey guys...
I am looking to upgrade my shocks on my SC400 but keep the OEM springs...I need your opinions on the KYB GR2 and Tokico HP's paired with OEM springs...
I do not do any track racing...but I do like a tight firm handling street ride...but I do not want to lose to much of the comfortable LEXUS OEM ride...
I guess I am wondering which of the two will give a firmer OEM feel with better perfomace on cornering and handling at higher speeds...
Thanks
Hello...anybody...

No. We just used some rubber fuel hose, split it down the middle and wrapped it around the upper coils. We secured it with plastic zip ties. The only thing we had to do was remove the wheel. It took a total of about 20 minutes to do both rear springs.
Hey I was wondering if you guys had any more problems with your Eibach springs?...
Did you install the SC400 or the Supra springs?...I was just wondering if the Supra springs were the ones having the problems...
Overall how do you like the Eibach springs?...I am currently trying to decide if I want to go with the Eibach springs and Tokico HP Shocks or just get coilvers...Thanks

Whats up guys, i just got the Zeal Function B Suspension for my SC300. The install was easy as hell. I must admit this is by far the best suspension I have ever owned. I will tell you this, if you are looking for a great quality Coil-over suspension go with the Zeal's. Hands Down The #ucking Best. It's hard to describe how great they are, you just have to get a ride.
Pix on they way.

:D
Just wondering how those Zeal B6 coilovers are working out for you...I am thinkng of getting some form my SC400...

So...I can go ahead and use the -07 on my SC400?...It is alot larger in diameter than the OEM filter the D3...

Does anybody know which TRD Oil Filter should be used or will fit the SC400 V8 Engine...or has anybody used a TRD with thier SC400?...
Here are the TRD P/N's and the Toyota they recommend it for...
1) PT901-90915-04 All 4 & 6 cylinder trucks
2) PT901-90915-05 Rav4 & 4 cylinder ???
3) PT901-90915-06 02'-03' Camry & 01' + Corolla 4 cylinder
4) PT901-90915-07 All V8 Landcrusier & Sequoia
I am assuming that the -04 can be used on a RX300,ES300 etc...and the -07 on the SC400 V8s
Thanks

Where did you get the upper strut tower bar?...
-
Could the unburn fuel going thru the one cylinder and out the exhaust have done any damage to the catylic converter?...or would the CEL light have already come back on if that was the case?...
-
Does anybody have or know where I can get a couple of Ignition Coil Pack Mounting Bolts for a 98-00 SC400....
I have tried 4 local dealers and either they cannot find a p/n for the bolt or they order me the wrong bolt...
The bolt is 10mm head about 1.25" long...
I am hoping that somebody is parting out a 98-00 SC400...
Thanks
-
Probably didn't hurt anything. If the plug got fouled and it's firing now, it should burn itself clean. If it's running ok and no CEL you should be fine.
Thanks...barkat

Hi Eveyone,
I just finished changing the spark plugs in my 98 SC400...I did not want to pay the dealer around $200 in labor just to change the plugs (I had already purchased Denso IK20 Iriduim Plugs)...
So, after about 3 hours I finished the task...not as bad as I thought it might be... I started the car and immediatly I noticed it idled rough (extra vibration from the engne)...
I thought maybe the ECU needed to get used to the new plugs so I took it for a little spin (about 3 miles round trip, during which I punched the gas twice, once each way)...after about the first 1/2 mile the Check Engine light came on and on the way back it started to blink...by the time I got back to my house it was idling very rough almost ready to stall...
Well I started to relally freak out :( ...What had I done to my baby...
Well, after a closer inspection it turns out I forgot to connect (1) of the connectors to the spark plug coil...
I re-started the car and it idled perfect again...although the Check Engine light did NOT go out...So, again I did my same 3 mile round trip and the car ran perfect..but the Check Engine light did NOT go out...
So, I pulled the neutral on the battery..waited about five minutes and finally the Check Engine light went out (AMEN)... :D
So...My question is did I do any damage to the Engine by driving it for about 3 miles on 7 cylinders?..I really do not want to pull that spark plug out again if I don't have to or should I just replace that plug...

Has anybody successfully programmed a duplicate black remote key for a 1998 SC400?...
I have recieved instructions from a locksmith who cut the blank key for me and also instructions from the person I bought the blank Remote key from and none of them have worked...:cries:
If somebody has been successful.. :D ...please email me exactly how you did it...
I had one dealer tell me they cannot or won't do it unless you buy the $250 to $300 key from them ... and I am waiting to hear back from the other dealer...
I was able to program the key for remote entry...the problem I am having is programming it to actually start the car...
Thanks in Advance...
WOW...Nobody knows anything on this subject?....
