  1. I removed my roof racks on my 01' RX300 and I'm getting better gas mileage and it looks so much better with them off.
  2. I have a 2001 RX 300 with 48K. It has been performing perfectly since I bought it as the second owner with 36K. The only thing you have to worry about is the vehicles tramsmission as this is the biggest problem area with the RX. I changed the transmission fluid (myself) as soon as I got it.
  3. I changed the cabin air filter in my 01' RX300 myself this weekend. It took only 20 minutes to do and was very easy. I purchsed the replacment filter at Advanced Auto Parts for $25.00.
  4. Cruznroadking is correct!
  5. The original warranty is for 4 years or 50K. I haven't used the mileage so the time period is in effect and actually expires tomorrow. this is what the Lexus dealership told me.
  6. Hello, Thanks for the info. I have 43K on my rx300. i got a price from Protective Insurance/ Costguard for $1,140.00 for 4 years or 50k bumper to bumper. Any suggestions?
  7. My 2001 RX300 manufatures warranty expires on Saturday. I currently have 43K miles. There have been no real problems so far. I really rely on my car and don't want to get stuck if something happens once the warranty runs out. I know Lexus is a great car company and has the reputation to back. I had warranty work done not to long ago to replace two servo motors. The cost would have been $840.00 if I wasn't covered under a warranty. That's scary. Do you recommend purchasing an extended warranty. Who is the best company to get from? Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!
  8. I have a 2001 RX300 with 42,000 miles. My questions: When is it recommended to replace the brakes and what brand to use. The brakes feel/ work great now but I don't want to wait and possibly damage the rotors. I can do this work myself so what brand should I use or any specific type? I appreciate any help. Thank you, mark1175@hotmail.com
  9. My RX300 takes approximately 4 quarts of fluid when I do a drain and refill. I think it may call for 4.2 quarts or something like that in the manual. The transmission drain plug takes a 10mm hex drive to remove it. You will also want to replace the crush washer (metal gasket) when you do this so that you can be sure to prevent leaks. The RX calls for Toyota Type IV and that is all I have used. Hi Tom, Thanks for the good info. I picked up the tranny fluid today from the Toyota dealership. After you have drained the fluid from the bolt under the car, where do you add the new fluid? Thanks, Mark
  10. I have an 01' RX300 with 37,000 and I want to change the transmission fliud myself but don't know how. Where is the drain plug? Where do I add the new fluid? How many quarts do I need? I appreciate any help.
  11. I just replaced my cabin air filter. Got a replacment at Auto Zone for $13.50. What do you pay from Toyota? Thanks!
  12. I have a 2001 RX300 with 36K. I'm getting mechanical "switching" noises from my center console area. Sounds like the servo motor is opening and closing the vents over and over while the car is parked and in motion. I suspected it was the servo motor and brought it to the Lexus dealership to look at it under warranty. After looking at it they told me it was a normal noise and there was nothing wrong. The noise still persists and i'm very supicious that there is a problem. Any one else experiencing this or have any reccommondations. Thanks! mark1175@hotmail.com
