  1. Hi - I have a '91 LS400 that has started leaking what appears to be oil. I got under it and see it is coming from an area in directly behind a control bar. It is not the tranny pan, as it is way in front of that. Is this a rear seal problem? Also, I have a "squeak" in the front end when it bounces. Is this some sort of bushing that needs to be replaced in the front end? The car drives fine - nothing loose or pulling. Thanks and Happy Holidays! Headjoog
  2. I'd like to see this filter cleanup too! Or a link to it? thanks
  3. I got it now....thanks for the info and replies! Headjoog
  4. I have read through some of the threads about extra keys and now completely confused. Can someone pllleezzee help clarify? I just bought a 91 LS400. I only received one key that works with the remote - the key with the little button on the side. I need at least one more key - preferably another one like this. Now - I read somewhere that you couldn't purchase another key and reprogram for this year model. But...I see a couple of tututorials that say you can. If I spend the $$ to buy a couple of other keys like this, can you actually use them? Can they be reprogrammed? In the event I can't use another remote key, can I purchase another key and use it - like a manual key? Thank you in advance - I'm so confused, but loving the car so far. Thanks, Headjoog
  5. Well - thanks to the buyer's guides and this forum...I took the plunge. I am now the proud owner of a 91 LS400! I was able to fix my CD Changer issue. The cartridge was jammed in there. So I ever so gently took the changer out of the trunk and was able to weasle the cartridge out - ever, ever so gently. I expected to find plastic pieces everywhere, but after dismantling, everything appeared to be in one piece and I was able to get the cartridge out. The car came with an extra cartridge and upon reassembly - PRESTO! Crusing with the CDs! I am so happy - I was expecting to spend $$ for that repair. Now on to the LCD display next.... Now I do have a question about keys. I've seen numerous posts, but I'm now confused. Since this is a 91, does that mean I cannot get any more remote keys to work with it. It came with one working remote key - actually, that is the only key that came with it and I need a couple of other ones. Can someone clarify this key thing for me? Thanks and have enjoyed the forum thus far - Headjoog
  6. Well...another one joins the club - maybe.... I drove a 91 LS400 with 136K on it. It had the traction control and all the goodies. Compared to my M3, these Lexus machines are like a magic carpet ride. Everything looks good on the vehicle except: 1) The LCD Blackout issue - I understand it's a "standard" feature on this model and not a big deal to replace. 2) The CD Changer is suspect. There was a spare magazine in the trunk and I could not seem to get the magazine out. I did not get an error code or any response when I pushed the CD button on the radio. Is this a major ordeal? How much for a new changer? 3) The brakes seem to squeak a bit. Is this normal? I called one of the Lexus dealers here and they said it had the timing belt replaced at 108K. Are there any other things I should check for before signing the check? It's at a dealer and he wants $6950 and the carfax checks out clean. Any thoughts out there? Thanks - Headjoog
